"Breeding Horses" by Mina C.G.Davies Morel (Blackwell Publishing). My friend swore by it as she bought a mare that unexpectedly gave birth a couple of months later. She had to take a crash course in foaling!!!

Just found it on the Tescos website too!

The one I used was ~ Spirit Blending Foals Before and After Birth: An Old Way Continued, the book is excellent, it's a more holistic approach to the process and has info on training right up until the foal is ready to be backed, although books are good you should really talk to people who have been through this and talk to you're vet...a lot! Anything you are unsure of they will put you right. Good luck!

You should really ask your vet, however I can understand if you still want to educate yourself through books. I agree with a suggestion above, "Blessed are the Broodmares".

Good luck and I hope if you decide to breed that you have a healthy, happy foal and mare! :)

Try a book called "Blessed are the Broodmares". Can't remember the author, but you can do a search on Amazon. It's really good. Best of luck!

there are allot of books on the market, i would go to a local book shop and see what they have. i wish i could help you more but most of my books are on equine biology etc, but look for ones that makes the most seance to you, it could be a great book but it wouldn't mean a thing if u didn't understand it.

didn't know horses could read, but I suspect they'd enjoy 'The Horse Whisperer' provided they have good hearing...
