First: Are Fleas seasonal? do they go away in the winter?

Second: I live in Fl and my AC/Heater broke so probable not going to have heat this summer (I don't really like using it anyway) But Me and my Girlfriend have four large dogs (55-85lbs) and we don't want them to get to cold, plus we have all tile. is a heating pad/blanket ok to give them at night or just a regular blanket okay. I want them to be comfortable but I don't want to hurt them either.

Thanks so much!!!

I just got them about twos ago, and my one cockitiel I think is female picks and bites at the male I think he is male they have the matched markings of what I believe to be male and or female anyway.. she picks at his beak or bites it, at one point she made him bleed and there was blood lots of it all over my wall and the cage, so I seperated them for a while, then felt guilty and put her back in after a few days, although she doesn't pick at him as much or bite as much she is still doing it, but she haasn't picked or bite so hard to make him bleed this time, What and why is this and what should I do.... thanks in advance.

My cat just got 2 casts put on her hind legs due to an accident, I assume a car ran over her. The casts are on such that the leg is elongated/straightened out. They are so heavy that she is limited to lying on her side with both legs virtually grounded and stuck together. Is it inevitable that she will soil herself, so that the poo gets all over her fur? Or will she instinctually find a way to get in a pooping position. She has only had the casts since yesterday and shes still freaked out by these mysterious things on her legs. Is there a special way I have to modify our litter box to make it accessible for her? Will she finally accept being stuck wearing the casts? What can I expect after she gets the casts removed?

What have been some of your personal and hopefully universally common experiences with this matter?

Our cat came in this morning acting really scared as if someone was coming to get him. I noticed his fur smelled like gasoline and it was spiked up from the dried out gasoline. Can this cause brain damage and what should we do besides giving him a bath?

Thanks in advance!

I recently switched my dogs to Innova dry food, I did this gradually over about ten days and all that went well. I have one dog who is underweight, so he is on Innova Evo wet food, to gain some weight. Apparently someone in my house has been feeding my other dog the wet food as well, without realizing it wasnt his. Now he seems really sluggish and has loose stool, I am sure it could be the change in the food causing this, but has anyone heard any negative reviews about Innova? Share your experiences and input please. Also the dogs that I am feeding Innova to are an American Eskimo and Siberian husky.

I found an abandoned kitten that is adorable and I'm keeping her. I called Angels for Animals and am taking her there to get all her shots, spayed, etc... They said they put all the cats that test positive for feline leukemia down. Now I'm worried. I love my little Halo (that's her new name) and am hoping for the best. Does anyone know of some warning signs for feline leukemia? She seems very healthly and is very fiesty and active.

Another thing.... I'm broke and that's why I'm taking her there. I can barely afford to keep her as is so I don't know if I could take care of her if she is sick :(

Being black she is at increased risk of being run over at night. White would show up more at night. Better still maybe some of those bright hair colours people seem to dye their hair with Maybe I should have got a white cat in the first place. The other idea is to fit her with a bright orange jacket like motorway workers use, this may be much better than hair bleach which could harm the cat if she licks it off.

Hi, I just recently bought a BLM mustang (already trained) gelding. I've trained him to the point where he listens to all my cues and respects my space. He's very gentle and calm too. But when I ride him or work with him in the round pen, i don't have any of his focus. He's constantly looking at the barn where the other horses are and he occassionally tries to run back. He acts extremely 'stallion-ish' and is extremely extremely dominant with the other horses, but hes fine with people. My question is how do i get his focus in the arena and keep it? No matter what I do, his attention is towards the barn. We're going to have a blood test to see if he was maybe proud cut, but are there any other suggestions about this problem? Is this a prominent problem in BLM mustang geldings? or is it just him?

my newfie lately is sleeping way too much, like 15 hours every 20 hours. he looks very drowsy when he's awake and is slow to respond to commands and often looks confused and lost.

he lies down on the floor making strange faces. i don't understand this behavior. he seems to have lost interest in eating too.

he is 2 years old, so he's not old and i presume he is in very good health because his weight and size seems good.

is this normal behavior or something is wrong?

I am wondering how bengal cats are with children? I had a domestic cat once and when I woke up in the middle of the night to check on my daughter, the cat was laying on her neck. The vet said something about them needing the oxygen. It really scared me. I have heard that bengals are very different than regular domestic house cats. If any one can help it would be great. Thanks

My dog keeps getting out of the fence. The neighbors have one of her puppies and she goes to their house to see him. They shoo her aways and she goes roaming the neighborhood. We have tried repairing the fence where she's pushing it out. Putting her on a chain is not an option. That to me is cruel and leads to dog bites and possessive behavior. My other dogs don't get out. She goes for walks everyday. We play with her and show her attention when she's good. I have tried to tell the people that have her puppy to play with him the their back yard and not to let him cross the street to get to our house. They said it's their dog and they will do what they want. She was brought home once by animal controll. Someone called and said there was a vicious dog loose. They said she was trying to get attention from him and he thought she was showing aggression. I don't want to loose her and I need to figure out how to keep her in.

I recently took my 3 seven month old pit bull puppies to the vet and had them given a full check up. The vet gave all three of them a clean bill of health. I had him do a full run of tests on the female puppy Panda because although she eats a bowl of food 3 times a day she will not gain weight. I'm concerned that if I take her out for a walk I will end up with an animal control officer at my home half an hour after I get home because she is so thin. I feed her 3 times a day. I give her only Puppy chow with some grilled chicken and steamed veggies mixed in which is what the vet told me to do. She doesnt have worms as that was one of the tests the vet did both for intestinal worms and for heart worms also doesnt have the onset of parvo. The vet ran tests for all puppyhood illnesses and the three are fine even after Oreo was exposed to parvo in his other home. I just need ideas as to how to get her to gain weight.

My 8 yo pup is starting to obviously suffer in the hips. He has been sore for a couple of years, but recently he is hopping in the rear end instead of walking. I know surgery is an option but not realistic. Any ideas other than the obvious.
