i own a 2 year old champion breed ampt male dog and i wanted to get another pit bull from the same breeder and wanted to know if i do get him will he know that the new pup i got is his brother since both they have the same parents?

What answers / comments have you seen here that you'd consider to be a great disservice to anybody trying to learn something about dogs? Have you ever seen an answer that you know to be bad advice repeated here and accepted by the asker(s)? Are there any misconceptions or myths about dogs you read here often, that you'd like people on this list to dismiss all together? What advice would you offer an asker who'se trying to filter out the best answer to their dog question?

I'm not referring to silly dog questions or answers that you see here all the time, but I do see bad advice that is sometimes echoed by more than one answerer that I hope people here would totally ignore. I'll give my own answer at the closing of this question.

There are never any in our garden, because it's always too stinken' dry or too stinken' wet in the Midwest. Or too cold. But where can I get some as pets (without having them shipped?)

I own a 140 gallon tank i clean every week i own a 9 year old RES water turtle ( 10 inches)and i want to know will it be safe t put a full grown tiger oscar fish in with him who will eat who and what if i put a 8 inch snapping turtle inside to willl the fish eat them or will the snapping turtle

We have an 8 month old X called Max.
Each day we walk him in the woods behind our house, The trouble is that he will only pee in the stream, what with winter (wet fur) ect.. We need help / advice on how to get him to 'go' in a more apropriate place in the woods.
Any tips on how to get him to do this please?

My 7 year old dog, Buster has been acting kind of funny for the last couple weeks. His eyes looked a little strange, he was more sensitive to touch (would move his leg in the leg twitch thing with the slightest touch), etc. He seemed to be getting more perky about a week ago. Now last night, he seems to have stoppped coming when called, he won't eat, he had hypersalivation for a couple of hours, and he is very lethargic. He keeps wanting to go outside and won't even eat his treats. When you pay attention to him he shivers and stuff. What might be wrong with him?

I have had my 20 gal fish tank since February. I have never actually changed the water. I have about 10 different tropical fish in it including a mollie, 2 female bettas,2 glass fish,an algea eater,etc.I also have 4 dwarf frogs. HOw would I do a water chage a rock cleaning, and plant cleaning etc.? Also, where would you put all the aquatic life?

We have a dog in our house right now that we believe belongs to a very disturbed person who has on numerous occasions had their animals removed by the police. I have no way of knowing for sure that this dog (a pure bred small breed) is theirs and if I ask I'm sure they would lie as they "collect" animals. They have been arrested numerous times on drug charges, etc as well. I would like to keep the dog, she's very sweet and has adapted well to my family. Our home is clean and comfortable, whereas this "suspect" house is full of animal waste and debris. I know that legally I would be on questionable ground, however morally I think we're doing the right thing. My only fear is if this loon had a chip put in her--which I feel is doubtfull. Can you feel this chip under the skin if it's there? She looks very swollen in the rear, like she is maybe going into heat, so my thought is if they didn't spay her, they probably didn't bother with a chip. Any thoughts from you animal lovers?

we have 2 xsbt one is ten years the other nearly 2 years. over the past 2 months our youngest has started howling or barking after we leave. hes never done this before and we have had him since he was 14weeks. we havent moved or changed our routine at all. we were told this by a neighbour so decided to record our youngest and yes he was howling and barking alright. he only howls the once but then barks for a maximum of 2 minutes then all is silent for the rest of the time were out. the radio is left on low for him hes given treats to keep him occupied and he goes out for exercise beforehand. anyone any ideas as to whatelse we can do to stop him from howling and barking?

I have a black Mollie and he has had this white cottony growth on him. I have already treated the whole tank he is in with all the other fish in the tank several days ago. I put a fungus tablet in the tank that dissolves to treat your fish for fungus growth. It hasn't worked because it kinda went away at first,but now it's back on the same fish!No other fish are effected by it. I thought I would put the mollie in a fish bowl alone and treat him by hisself before he dies. Can mollies live in a bowl without an air filter?

I have two questions
We have an adult female cat about 2 1/2 years old now. We also just adopted a female kitten about 6 weeks old. They are both doing great, but the older cat hates the kitten. She dosent do anything to it, but she hides around the house and when she comes out she hides on top of stuff and watches it. If she does get near it, then she hisses and growls at it then runs away. Is there anything that i can do to help her get used to it?

Also we are renting a smaller house and the only place to put the litter boxs ( i have two now temporarily because the little kitty can not get it the box) in the bathroom, and they stink. I clean them out once or twice a day to help it. and I use the arm and hammer cat litter, and i have a air freshener in there, but it still smells. any suggestions would be great.
