I can not afford a vet right now. The diarrhea just started to get worse today. She is active, and plays fine. Is there anything I can do at home to help her? It was a small amount of blood.

If you cannot afford a vet call around to some vet will work out a payment plan with you, for started stop feeding what ever it is you are feeding, blood in the feces is not good, but 9 times out of 10 it is a sure sign of worms or a very upset tummy. While you are searching for a vet, take your dog off the food he or she is on and go pick up minute rice. And chicken bullion, boil the rice and let is cool take 3 or 4 of the bullion and mash it up good, and put them in a about a ½ a cup of warm water and dump it over the rice. This will be your bland diet for a few days. The next thing you need to do is pet smart, pet co, pets plus or what ever is in your area and pick up a multi purpose wormer, if is worms this should correct the problem, still it is important to get to a vet if it is not worms, your dog could have ingested something. Try in the future to put money away even if it is $5.00 a week over time it will add up and you will not find yourself panicking over something like this, you will simply be able to go to the vet.

If you would like to research you dogs symptoms please try this site, it will also back up the information I have given, good luck. I wish you the best.

My dog had pancreatitis at one year that almost killed her plus the vet bills almost killed me! Initially, he suggested a totally water diet for three days - nothing else to allow her digestive tract to settle down. (obviously it didn't work for my dog.) That would be what I'd suggest first. Don't worry about the not eating right now. That was a big problem for me not my dog. They know when they should eat or not. However, diarrhea is serious if it continues. Good luck. It's tough when our helpless pets get sick. They can't tell us they don't feel well.

SEE THE VET IMMEDIATELY> Your dog could have several digestive disorders or could have a thyroid problem. Either way, the poor thing is in pain and should be seen asap. If you live near Phila. there is even an emergency room for pets at the Univ. of Penn. If not, there might be one in your area. Good Luck!

I forgot to ask - is anything missing in the house? If it ate something harmful, it could be blocking the intestine (saran wrap, rubber band, anything. Please see the vet.

Take it to the vet. Right away! 3 days? That is not a healthy thing to see.

Go to the vet ASAP your dog could have heart worms or something in it's stomach . or ate something that is cutting up inside when pooping. But you shouldn't wait he it could be bleeding internally and die if you wait too long.

fast your dog.....than start up again by a low sodium broth and rice meal.....see how that stays put....slowly put him on ground beef with rice. I agree a vet visit is required. could be any number of conditions.....but stop the feeding.....fast for one day than introduce foods ground beef with rice etc.

could be hook worms or it could be that your dog was out walking on grass that had just been fertilized.. we can all sit here and guess, but only a vet would know.. maybe he will let you make payments..
