That is actually a human term and it relates to being at an uncontrollable age (terrible twos) With dogs they are probably meaning 5-7 months when the dog develops certain cognitive skills and wants to show it's independence.

I have only heard this in reference to children...and its true. As far as a dog goes, I have no clue what that is suppose to mean. My shepherds are all idiots until about 12-18 months and then they become perfect little buddies. By two years old they're ready to cuddle with the kids yet kill an intruder. My last Shepherd was 2 1/2 when he saved me from being mauled by a great dane. A great Dane was at my fence and jumped it growling like he was going to eat me. I stepped bacvkwards and tripped over the step and my Shepherd jumped through the screen window and attacked the great dane. My shepherd sent him packing. If you have a dog that is "terrible" at two, you might htink of taking him to obedience classes, its a great way to establish trust and a bond that is unbreakable.

I've heard this but only with toddlers.
People seem to think for some reason that when anything hits the age of 2 years old they are going to be really misbehaved or something.
thats my version
