I have three, one is going to be 10, one is almost 8 and one is about 1 and a half. I would be devastated once the inevitable happens. But I had a co-worker who had a cat live to 20!! And she was an indoor/outdoor cat. Mine are strictly indoors and all up to date on their shots and see the vet at least once per year for their checkups.

We don't know how these cuts happened but he's had one ear stitched which started to heal well until he shook his head. We've checked his ear canals and there's no sign of infection but he's a dog that's always shaken his head. The stitches stayed in but the wound re-opened and the vet ended up bandaging his ear to his head. We noticed a week later that a small cut appeared at the bottom of his other ear and grew larger every time he shook his head. This has resulted in both his ears being bandaged to his head and one very unhappy boy. We've had to get sedatives from the vet to keep him from scratching his ears and shaking his head. The cuts are healing but I'd like any advice anyone can offer that doesn't involve having to bandage the poor dog up.

I'm planning on getting a hamster so I've been doing some research on the internet on what kind of cage to get. Do they run around a lot or only run in the wheel? I want to know what kind of space they need. The Habitrail cages seem a little small but is an aquarium type really better?
I had thought of connecting two cages but then I read that the tubes aren't really that safe because they're not ventilated. Anyone have any personal opinions on this? I mean if I use short tunnels to connect 2 cages I'm sure it will be fine.

I have an 8 month old St. Bernard / English Mastiff mix and he has a chewing problem. I have been told it's because he is bored, but I'm not sure how that could be since we are really good about walking him and playing with him. We have another dog & 2 children that show him much attention. He really only does it when we are not home (is he mad at us for leaving him?) Other than the chewing problem he is an awesome dog. I know he is just a puppy and that puppies chew, but I'm not sure how to get him to know that he can't do it. I never really catch him in the "act" so how do I "punish" him for something that he did awhile ago?

Trips to the vet have had me searching for food without fish (not easy) and the last time he gave her a shot and steroid pills. Still, no relief and it's getting worse. Before going to the vet again, does anyone have any suggestions? Linatone???? My other cat is fine, no problems and they both eat the same food and live in the same house. Thanks!!!!!

Why does he turn around and around in circles(not chasing his tale just slowly)about 20 times before he lies down and he also pulls with his mouth at what he is trying to lie on (e.g the sofa) and he scrapes it.

I have owned two in the last three years. Raised them properly, made sure they got used to all situations, ie... other dogs and people and still I wouldn't trust them.
