Just think. If he wins he'll have lots of money to fuel his private jet as he flies around lecturing us about global warming, poor stranded polar bears, hockey stick graphs, and how we shouldn't drive SUVs.

The Nobel peace prize is a joke. Wouldn't you say? After all Arafat won it?

I am very sympathetic towards REALrape victims. It is a horrible crime & demands swift and equal justice no matter what a person's race. I can't help but be mystified, however, at the Duke Lacrosse rape case. In Durham's efforts to not look in ANY way racist, they rushed forward to prosecute these white boys. They didn't want to appear not to believe this black girl even after irrefutible DNA evidence cleared the lacrosse players. Then, it was the prosecutor, the city government, the state who ALL took a hit legally & in the media. That prosecutor certainly made horrible mistakes but this one case will ruin his entire life. Those boys, although exonerated, will have the word "rape" attached to them for the rest of their lives. Their families drug through the mud. And for what? Why is NO ONE, not the media, and suprisingly, not even the boys...focusing on prosecuting the GIRL who obviously lied?! Can we as a society afford to just allow anyone to yell rape & ruin someone's life lying?

.....kicked a blind father of five to death have both been jailed for just 12 and a half years ?

(According to press reports, Lewis Barlow and Leon Gray who were 14 at the time of the attack, knocked 45-year-old Colin Greenwood to the ground then kicked and punched him to death 'for fun' as he waited at a tram stop. They were then seen walking off laughing and boasting about the brutal beating before joking about what sentence they would be given).

Do you think 12 and a half years in jail is enough for this callous act? What sentence would you impose?

He came out to today and declared that the US does not torture, but John Yoo (Deputy Asst, Atty. General) defined all interrogations as legal as long as they do not produce "organ failure" or "death".

If that's Bush's definition as well...I guess I agree that the US does not "torture".

I am all for saving the environment and I do my fair share, but actions speak louder than words. This "do as I say" but "not as I do" attitude does not work. Gore still flies on private planes while he tells everyone else to fly commercial. He asks people to ride bikes, buy hybrid cars and walk while he drives in an SUV. He asks us to live in straw houses and conserve energy while he uses 100 times the normal amount of power in one of his 5 homes.

There are many respected scientists and think tanks that have asked Gore to debate but he continually refuses. His movie was full of false statements. Why is he afraid to debate the issues?

Now, if a story has something to do with Maddy and helping to find her, than im all for it being front page news. BUT over the past month Kate and Gerry have been front page, for example front page of the Mirror today was about each day being a like a week for them, articles like this contribute nothing to finding Maddy and while i understand and emphasis with them, i feel constant reminders of their grief helps no one, and if anything may start making people resent them. SO ONCE AGAIN I AM FOR ANY THING TO DO WITH MADDY AND FINDING HER BEING FRONT PAGE NEWS. BUT NOW IM FED UP WITH SEEING ARTICLES WHICH DONT CONTRIBUTE TO FINDING HER, ABOUT HER PARENTS MAKING THE FRONT PAGES
I KNOW THERE WILL BE MANY PEOPLE WHO DUE TO A LACK OF INTELLIGENCE AND UNDERSTANDING WONT UNDERSTAND MY QUESTION AND POINT, THESE PEOPLE WILL NO DOUBT WILL ABUSE ME N MAKE ME OUT TO BE A MONSTER

Alan Dershowitz, a man who has built his career on libel, now contends that the suffering of the Palestinians is justified by the Nazi inclinations of a Palestinian leader of the '30s. Wasn't Nazism incredibly popular in the US at the time? Weren't important figures like Prescott Bush, John D. Rockefeller and Henry Ford active supporters of the Nazi party? Aren't racist and neo-nazi organizations such as the KKK still prevalent in the US? Under Dershowitz premise, shouldn't the US offer some its land for the creation of a Jewish state?

Secret Justice Dept. Memos Effectively OK’d Torture
The New York Times has revealed the Justice Department under former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales issued a series of secret legal opinions effectively sanctioning the use of torture. The first opinion came shortly after Gonzales arrived in February 2005. Just months earlier the Justice Department had publicly declared torture “abhorrent.” But the secret opinion under Gonzales gave a green light to a series of harsh interrogation tactics including head-slapping, simulated drowning and frigid temperatures. At the time, outgoing deputy attorney general James Comey said the department would be “ashamed” when the opinion was publicly revealed. Less than one year later, the Justice Department issued another secret opinion declaring that no CIA techniques violated proposed laws banning “cruel, inhuman and degrading” treatment.

Bush Vetoes Expansion to Children’s Health Care
President Bush has followed through on a promise to veto a bill expanding health care to millions of low-income American children. On Wednesday, Bush quietly issued the fourth veto of his presidency on a measure expanding the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, known as S-CHIP. The bill would have spent thirty-five billion dollars over five years, funded by a tax increase on cigarettes. The White House said it would only accept an increase of five billion dollars.

What is the possibility that the McCann's have sold the little girl, black market to another couple?
It makes a lot of sense when you think about it.
Kate running in and screaming, 'They've taken her!' Their insistence and confidence that Madeleine is still alive. Her seeming sudden disappearance without affecting the twins.
Have they checked into the McCann's financial history to see if there may be a gambling problem or an outstanding debt?
I have to wonder if this is the only stone left unturned.

Or is it more bravado like when they said they would stay in Portugal to clear their names. or when they said they would take a lie detector test. I don't think for one minute that they will return willingly, otherwise, why hire a lawyer who is expert in stopping guilty people being extradited. Gerry says "bring it on" but it is more spin and bull. They are both crapping it, especially now that the British police think along the same lines as the Portuguese and are convinced that Madeleine died in the apartment. These are experienced, trained professional policemen, experts in their fields, not 3rd world idiots. They have nothing to gain from "setting up" the McCanns.
