No I don't think it was right. I think Mychal Bell should have been charged as an adult because he's a repeat violent offender. He has 4 prior violent convictions and is on probation. Justin Barker has no previous criminal history and he had nothing to do with the noose incident. The media and Al Sharpton has made a media freak show out of the incident and blamed the victim in the crime. It's a sad case. There is no excuse for six guys to beat one guy ever in a civilized society. And it should never be acceptable in 2007 America. Good luck. 2D

I think all members of the Jena gang should be tried as adults and go to prison.

While the boys were wrong to gang-bang one kid, the authorities were wrong to up the charges to adult status.
The boys should be charged as to the context of their age - they are still children...and they do need punishment, within that context.
P.S. - to whomever gave me the "thumbs down" - do you really think it is okay for six people to beat the crap out of one unarmed person?
If so, you are about as bright as the mob of idiot cops who beat the crap out of Rodney King.

No i don't think they should have been charged such a serious charge. But, it don't take 6 guys to fight a guy iether. i think assault charges should have been placed an been done with it.
