That's funny and may be true, but I believe it was staged for affect.

One phone call during a speech is an accident...twice is planned. He's done this more than once. I'm sure he is just trying to make the point that he has settled down with his wife...for the very reasons you bring up. I think it was a miscalculation though, because it merely highlights his past "indiscretions."
That being said, if I vote for him (or not), it won't be influenced by whether he cheated with his wife before they were legally divorced.
