How come this has mostly disappeared from the headlines? Is it because people are sick of doom and gloom headlines or because its not really a threat or what?
Is another Spanish influenza type pandemic coming or not?

It was over hyped. It's surprising it lasted as long as it did. Anytime someone says something is the biggest threat in the world so you better keep giving us money, people should be concerned. And that's what we had. The people who cried the sky is falling are the ones whose jobs depended on it, or could make extra money. The media didn't pass the mike over to independent reviews. Just another Y2k.

I saw a program investigating the outbreak of Spanish Flu, and the type of circumstances needed for a flu outbreak are not going to happen.

I think it's kind of disappeared, scientists have gotten it under control. And also, people don't want to hear such negativity. I heard somewhere that scientists expect a huge (plague-type) disease to begin within the next 2 years.
