This country does not have enough electricity to pump water for its toliets. So how does one imagine huge ARMS & AMMUNITION INDUSTRY without electricity to run the machines? Obviously, the Americans, Russians, Chinese and Europeans are SELLING WEAPONS to all the terrorists across the globe Afghanisthan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iraq, Palestine, Israel, etc. What a BIG JOKE on humanity!
The funny thing is the guys selling Arms have formed the COALITION AGAINST TERROR - Ha Ha Ha!

I just spend a moving evening at the Vietnam War Memorial Traveling Wall. To see, read, and feel the names of all the men and women who died or are still MIA is truly a moving experience. How can Bush justify any of our losses in Iraq over oil when he looks out at memorials like this? 58,000 men and women died in Vietnam....how many must die in Iraq? Tell me your thoughts please.

There was a ONCE IN A LIFETIME event that took place. If you were to have gone outside and looked towards the southern sky low on the horizion just after sunset you would have seen two (2) stars that were in PERFECT alignment with each other. Let me know if you have gone outside and witnessed this great event.

I was reading a wire service story about the decline in size of lake Superior. One person interviewed thought that water from Lake Superior was being used for irrigation. The lead-in to a quote from an expert was:

"That theory doesn't hold water, said Scott Thieme, hydraulics and hydrology chief with the Corps of Engineers district office in Detroit."

It seems that journalists, even those with the Associated Press, can't resist a bad pun. What are your examples of bad puns in headlines or news stories you've read? If you can't remember any, make up a headline (preferably in bad taste) about some major event, past or current (just let me know it's fake) that uses a bad pun.

Doesn't matter what the catastrophe is, the news media always looks for fault in "someone".

I get so tired of local media hype. I mean, it's not everyday that we hear of bridges collapsing. Not to downplay what happened, but who else is tired of crappy local media reporting that just acts like the general public is a bunch of idiots?

"U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, a Minnesota Democrat, suggested Bush administration spending on the Iraq war may have crimped funding for domestic projects such as road and bridge construction, and for such infrastructure projects as new levees for New Orleans.

"We've spent $500 billion in Iraq and we have bridges falling down in this country," Klobuchar told MSNBC. "I see a connection between messed-up priorities." "

The failing bridges were noted during the CLINTON administration. Nothing was done about it. The New Orleans Dam break was noted during the CLINTON administration. Nothing was done about it. Warnings of 911 were HANDED OVER TO CLINTON during the CLINTON ADMINISTRATION. NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT. Does this old bitty not see a connection between SITTING ON YOUR HIND END and doing nothing with PLENTY OF WARNING, then leaving it for the next guy to clean up??

Radio 4, Thought for Today, Thursday 2 August, Dr Rev Alan Billings. Firstly he said whatever the circumstances of the disappearance of Madeleine he had sympathy for the family. Fair comment. He then got lost as a child, told us about it. OK. Then he compared the disappearance of Madeleine and the distress of her parents to Jesus when he went missing in the Market Place and Mary and Joseph were frantically looking for him. I do not see the analogy, Jesus I seem to remember was about 12 years old (correct me if I am wrong) plus he went off to preach, Jesus also had loving, caring, responsible parents who lost sight of him in a crowded market place. Is this comparison the official line of the Church or just one person's rather nieve view of the matter?

Does anyone really believe it was terrorism. The bearings in the bridge have been seized for at least 17 years. Eventually something had to give. I think there will be others to fall in the future. Concrete cracks and metal fatigues. Minnesota is in the rust belt after all
