I haven't paid much attention to where products are made, but that's about to change. Is it a conspiracy, or does China not care about people? They don't seem to have any FDA rules set up.

It is apparent that that China does NOT put a value on life. Lets see.
1. Tainted pet food
2. Thomas the Train Toys- Lead
3. Ginger - chemicals
4. Mattel /Fisher price Toys- Lead
How many more U. S. companies will have recalls due to China. I bet , many.
Our policy to out-source is turning around and biting us in the a**
I will refuse to buy any more products from China. A country that treats it's own people badly as well as those who give them the big bucks for their shoddy merchandise.

If we would add tarriff to imported products like we did in the 40's and early 50's then maybe, just maybe America would have a fair seat at the table and be able to manufacturer items right here in America. It's the fault of our USA government for not forcing fair trade, not free trade but fair trade. How, please tell, how can America compete with foreign companies that pay their workers mere penny's per hour? We can't. The only way to even out the game is for import tariffs. We aren't going against capitalism for doing such, no. Tariffs simply allows American companies to compete with foreign national corporations. Unless we add tariffs to our imports we, America, will NEVER have a robust manufacturing base. I still believe America can kick butt on most manufactured items. Look at what America has become. We have very few manufacturers in America and we won't until our government requires FAIR TRADE. You want America to create more jobs? You wan low taxes, as we once had? You want high quality merchandise made right here at home? You want to America to return to its former glory? Then America has to return to manufacturing. Its only one of five ways for a country to have wealth. Wealth is created in one of five ways. Manufacturing, Agricultural, Mining, Capital, or Entrepreneurship. While America is the largest Agricultural providers of food (e.g. grains, fruits) in the world. America has lost most of its wealth to foreign countires. It doesn't have to be this way. Washington D.C. wake up!!! We can rebuild. We can manufacturer some of the very best quality products in the world, but we cannot do such when we compete against other countries who pay their workers mere pennies per hour of labor. Washington D.C. simply impose tariffs and watch the jobs come back to America. No, China will not like the fact the we impose tariffs, but you know what. That's too bad. It would finally make China face the facts that the only reason their country is growing is because they have cheap labor. It's not because they are great innovators. No! In fact China is known more for its theft of intellectual property than any other country on earth. Then who are the innovators you ask? They America, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, and Japan. Washington wake up!! We are tired of being outsourced and run over.

Remember when we had a similar problem with Japan after WW2? Now the products from Japan are bought everywhere and quality is very good. The Chinese are going to go through the same learning curve but I believe it will be a much faster curve. The sad thing is that alot of American companies have sold us down the river for cheap overseas labor. That problem was caused by the ravenous appetite of the labor unions for ridiculous wages.Bottom line,if a busuness wanted to stay in business and compete they had to go overseas.

I'm just fed up with Chinese products in general. I want to buy stuff that's made in America, and stores just don't have it when it comes to most goods. The poor quality of many Chinese goods and the oppressive nature of the Chinese government are just additional motivation for me. Good night!

The reason why Chinese products are flooding the marketplace, is that they are cheaper to buy than domestic ones.
Would you be prepared to pay twice as much for a domestic product? Not that they are fantastic quality, anyway.

China has managed to pay off most of our elected officials so whatever they want to send here will be OK. The sellout of the Clinton administration has continued during the Bush years and everyone is happy because their pockets are full and profits are up. Forget about the children that may die or the millions of animals at risk as well as people due to contaminated food items being imported.

Previously, people slammed made in China products because they were inferior, now, they are downright dangerous to public safety.
