We all know that the media is biased and only reports stories that are ratings getters and those that reflects the station managers views? Why do they only tell one side of the story and not all sides? Why do they report only negaitive stories and not positive ones? Why does one story gets more attention than one very similar to it? Is there anything we as the public can do to ensure that we are getting all sides of the story? What can we do to get all sides of the story?

Meanwhile in Baghdad, witnesses say U.S. forces shot dead six Iraqi civilians in a raid on the Shia area of Sadr City. Two brothers aged eleven and fifteen years-old are believed among the dead.

Sadr City resident Abu Haider: "We do not know why they were killed by the Americans. We do not know the reasons behind attacking those poor innocent men who worked to earntheir livings. Islam and Christianity can not accept this!"

Jewish ethics would call for giving shelter to the needy. Israel will not give aid to the needy. Is Israel a jewish state or just another secular state? and if so, how can it continue to claim to be an exception? What makes Israel exceptional if it does not follow the Jewish religion exceptionally? Why does Israel deny safety to the Sudanese refugees? Why does it deny safety to the Palestinians?
Israel allow jews to immigrate there but no one else. A NAZI policy?

I have never been impressed by her as a news anchor and never understood what the fuss was. She complains that people don't take her seriously because of her "fluff news" work at the Today show, and says that's "patently unfair".

But I think the first thing she needs to do is become "Kate Couric". There's nothing wrong with have a cute name if that's what everyone is used to calling you, but there are just some circumstances where using that cutsey nickname works against you.

Frankly, I think she needs to demand more hands-on investigative journalism like Geraldo used to do in his 20/20 days. Instead of just being a commentator on "60 Minutes" introducing stories, she needs to roll up her sleeves and be part of the story investigation and production itself. THAT would help her credibililty too. For instance, interview Hillary Clinton and ask really tough questions. Do something unexpected. And sign off with "I'm Kate Couric."

What do you think?

If Maddie is ever found ( we pray she is) do you think she will blame her parents when she is older for the fact that she was kidnapped if in fact when she is older she knows she was or is kidnapped?

It is well documented by the media that they left her alone whilst went out for a meal so it wouldnt be hard for her to find out when she is older.

I read this quote in a story about Sen Orrin Hatch:

"There comes a point where the White House has to say, 'Hey, look there are certain confidential things in the White House that we're not going to share with Congress, just like there are certain confidential things in Congress that we're not going to share with the White House,'" Hatch, R-Utah, said on CBS' "Face the Nation."

So my question is this:

With the exception of classified information, do any of the Branches of American Government have the right to withhold any information from each other or the American Citizens?
If any American government official(s) (OGs) withhold any important information, should the American Citizens then be held responsible in the aftermath which might occur due to such information?

For example, if a GO(say Bush) lobbys for illegal alien amnesty, then it is found in a decade that major businesses backed him for this reason, should The People be required to give compensation to Mexico(ans)?

"Meanwhile, Channel 4 newsman Alex Thomson was rapped after claiming coverage of Maddie made him SICK.

He said the conduct of Maddie’s parents, who were having dinner in a nearby restaurant when she was taken 67 days ago in Praia da Luz, Portugal, was “a contributory factor in the abduction”.

He was only telling the truth

What do you guys think of the new 7 wonders of the world as compared to the old? I think these are the old... :
- Pyramids in Egypt
- Taj Mahal in India
- Great Barrier Reef in Australia
- Great Wall in China
- The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy
- Statue Of Liberty in America
- Eiffel Tower in France
and here's the NEW 7 wonders :
- Chichén Itzá in Mexico
- Christ Redeemer in Brazil
- Great Wall in China
- Machu Picchu in Peru
- Petra in Jordan
- The Roman Colloseum in Italy
- Taj Mahal in India
personally i have no clue on Petra and Christ Redeemer. i really have no idea WHAT they are, except from photos seen in the news. I think Machu Picchu, Taj Mahal and the Great Wall deserve their titles most. SOmehow, am a little disappointed that The Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Eiffel Tower, my personal favourites, didn't make the cut. *sigh...* what do YOU think??

P.S : correct me if im wrong on any of the abovementioned wonders. (=

I just think of all the orphans created by the tens of thousands of people in Iraq that have died (so far). Wouldn't the orphans be a great source of recruitment for Al Qaeda? What would they have to live for? No family, no money, no life, and they at least can be martyrs.
