Before anyone decides to explain, they DONT need Lawyers to set up or run the fund. So, what else would they need them for?

Bert, I was being sarcastic, I know theyve done wrong, even if its just the negligence that led to this strange case, or maybe more...but yes, they have definately done wrong!

My take is that the fund is being used to hire good Private Investigators. Thats the reason why the McCanns cannot divulge details about anything to do with. It has to be PRIVATE, right? Also, someone earlier had mentioned that if her baby was snatched, she'd go ahead & bite the devil's backside to get her baby back...i think the McCanns are doing just that. Now, when awareness of Madeleine is high, they are milking the public for funds to tide them over as this search may last years. How terrible would it be if they couldn't afford a good PI? Most poor people can't get back their babies just for this reason. Methinks the McCanns don't give a damn about the fine ethics or shame of their fund campaign as they will do ANYTHING to get back their Madeleine. If shes found, i'm certain the remaining fund will be donated to some kind of Missing Children's cause.

One of the lawyers is a family law expert. The only reason I can see for them needing an expert on family law is if they are already involved in family law issues. I wonder if the twins are under some kind of protection order because of doubts about the parents. It may be that the McCanns were warned they could face legal action against them for leaving the children unsupervised.

The lawyers seem to have been busy monitoring websites and getting some kind of reporting restrictions imposed on the British medfia.

I wonder if people who've donated to the fund realise that they are funding lawyers' fees for the parents.

Wouldn't all this money come in handy for the starving people of the world. I mean it is not spent on Madeleine. Why not put it to better use. The McCanns already had good jobs and didn't really need this money. The more they get the more they spend it on holidays and unnecessary stuff after all they are not looking for Madeleline themselves. I agree with your question. Everything they say and do does not make any sense at all.

And not Finknottle, Finknottle, Grind & Squirm, just any old High Street lawyers either.
But global specialists in child and family law, and a top QC to boot - the International Family Law Group.
"We resolve the financial aspects of relationship breakdown for all families. This includes expertise in HIGH NET WORTH INDIVIDUALS WITH GLOBAL AND COMPLEX ASSETS (ooooh, I'd say, m'lud!). We also look after the distinctive aspects of international families and expatriates, working closely with many lawyers abroad. Our work includes international child abduction as well as all other national and international disputes involving children. We have much experience in handling the media when it affects our clients, their children and their personal lives."
Tasty, I'd say. Now how did a couple of very comfortable but still not 'high net worth' status, manage to recruit such a lofty legal firm so early on in this case? And why bother?
And who's been paying the bills for the last two months?
Time for the 'pro-McCanns' to fess up to that one.

It is the usual practise among lawyers and barristers to secure a 'retainer fee' this can be paid in a lump sum up-front or it can be paid on a month to month basis, depending on the ongoing necessity to retain same. This ensures that you remain their client.

The only exception to this is on a 'pro-bono' ( which means for the common good) basis.

It's 'just in case' behaviour on their behalf, ie: covering their backs.

Well this question does not creep me out nor is it weird. Its a valid question that the public would like answers to. When will people that don't like the questions about this current event stop replying to them or reporting them. Seems quite childish to me.

I guess that most of the fees paid to the lawyers have been to put a clamp on the UK press.

If what is written in the Sol Report is true, then I guess they would need lawyers.
