People are stuck for what to say really about this situation. on the one hand we all want for the child to be returned, although this is unlikely now and feel that it is a tragedy what happened to her, on the other, its clear that her parents were neglectful and so their constant media appeals and requests for fund to help find their daugther are irritating when it was due to their actions that she disappeared in the first place. However, its difficult to express that view because the appeals are to find the daughter who hasnt done anyone any harm

My take is that the fund is being used to hire good Private Investigators. Thats the reason why the McCanns cannot divulge details about anything to do with. It has to be PRIVATE, right? Also, someone earlier had mentioned that if her baby was snatched, she'd go ahead & bite the devil's backside to get her baby back...i think the McCanns are doing just that. Now, when awareness of Madeleine is high, they are milking the public for funds to tide them over as this search may last years. How terrible would it be if they couldn't afford a good PI? Most poor people can't get back their babies just for this reason. Methinks the McCanns don't give a damn about the fine ethics or shame of their fund campaign as they will do ANYTHING to get back their Madeleine. If shes found, i'm certain the remaining fund will be donated to some kind of Missing Children's cause.

First - the amount collected has been made public. They did not have to do this, so give them credit for that.

Second - any money that they have spend should not be deducted from the total collected.

Third - it would be nice if they also provided a total of money spent (i.e., charities, causes, families in similar circumstances, expenses, etc...) but I don't think that will happen.

Finally - the blog has mentioned that contributions have been made but I don't recall any specific amounts.

Bottom line, it's their money and they can do with it as they please.

After their first 18 months a limited company must submit detailed accounts to companies house. I would urge anyone who has donated to this cause to buy these accounts online when they are published. It's the only way you'll ever be sure that your money was spent in the right place.

The fund is not being used to find Madeleine, it is being used to fund themselves. Who do you think is paying for their very extended holiday. I mean things don't come cheap nowadays.

when they find the poor wee lass it will be used for a lavish funeral, a villa in Portugal 'so they can be near her always' and a retirement in the sun, oh and maybe they'll waste some money on a full time nanny to look after the other two wee mites
