But tt's really awkward getting people to take their shoes off when they walk through the door! I've spent quite a lot of money on a nice new carpet and I don't want dirty shoes walked all over it. I ask my friends to take off their shoes and they're fine with it but my boyfriend's not so bothered. And the man wanted to come in and read the gas meter and I sent him away as I didn't see how I could ask him to take off his shoes!!! What do you think??

I have mice in my house and I can't get rid of them. I put down poison, they ate some then stopped. I put out glue traps, they caught some, but the little buggers got off it somehow, they left some furr behind (I have only caught 1). I tryed the killer ones that snap their heads when they eat the PB, they eat ALL the PB without setting off the trap. These little things are sneaky. Anyone have any advise? We have a dog that loves to catch mise and other things, but he misses them cause they get behind something he cant get behind. and he would eat a cat, so thats not an option. HELP!

My neighbor routinely lets their dog do his business in my yard. They flick cigarette butts everywhere and dump grass clippings in my back yard. I am new to the neighborhood and live in a recently renovated house that had stood empty for some time. My neighbors are a very young family with three children. I am not home very much between work and weekend trips. What is the least harmful way to deal with this?

A couple of months ago my husband and I bought a rug from a major dept. store for $650. A week later we decided it didn't work in our living room so we called and cancelled the order and told them to not deliver it and to send us store credit instead. A week later it was sitting on my doorstep. I called the manager and complained and told them they have to come back and get their rug and please send our refund. Two days later we decided it could work in another room. I immediately called the manager and told him that we will just keep it after all. Just recently when I got the mail I saw that the store had accidentally sent us that store credit for the cost of the rug ($650) My husband says just keep it but I don't feel comfortable. What would you do??? It is so tempting but I feel it is wrong. Should we keep it for a future purchase or call and return it?

I had my house fully fumigated October 2006, meaning it was covered the whole house entirely, and fumigated for sub and med. termites (two different kinds).
Now, since last week I have found 4 living termites flying around, and none since the whole year. I am upset.
Could it be they did not do a good job the company, or are they coming from the neighbor next door?
She rents, but I do not want to ask her, and if she does have termites from her home coming to mine, could I sue or what action can I take against her property management company? Or do I have to call my company up again?

My pantry is full of little, crawling insects, which appear to have wings but which I have never seen fly. They are dark and each a bit smaller than a grain of rice. Here's what I've done in an effort to get rid of them.

I disposed of all grain products, dry food products, and products with salt or refined sugars. I bleached down tin cans of food, glass bottles of vinegar and molasses, and aerosol cans of butter substitutes. I washed the cabinet out with bleach water and double washed all cookware with bleach and hot water.

I painted the inside of the pantry and the shelves with "KILZ" white paint. I put cocoa proucts and spices which appeared free of insects in the pantry and have not yet moved them back.

BUT THE BUGS ARE BACK! Even though there is no grain...they latched onto a jar of table salt I put back in the pantry a few days after the paint dried and they are everywhere!

Help!

In response to my earlier question, the town was not in a high risk flood prone area and it hasnt happened since ! Our government and our taxes are for this purpose, insurance or not !!! FEMA dropped the ball on this one. I am aware that our STUPID Governor and mayor are idiots and bought a new stadium but irregardless there should have been some help. We are picking up and moving on, I just wonder if there is anyway to recoop our loss...but it appears there isnt. We could not get an insurance company to insure the home because of its age. Beware though that FEMA is just a joke and are not dependable.

For the past week or so there has an abundance of stink bugs coming out of the "wood-works" (so to say) and they are everywhere like on the outside surfaces of the houses and buildings, coming into an open car windown, crawling along window sills and doorways and sneeking inside. They freak me out. I'm pretty sure they don't bite or sting, but I've always wondered how they earned their name? Do they like spray smelly liquid or gas? or do they smell if you sqwash them? What's the deal?

I rent an old house that still has the wooden framed windows and they just let the drafts right in. What is the best way to put plastic up? I must have not done it right last year because my gas bill was like $400 a month in the winter for a 2 bedroom rowhouse that is vey small. Also, I would turn the thermostat all the way off when I left for work in the morning and turn it on when I returned in the evening. Could this have also contributed to the high bills? I just didn't feel safe letting it run all day with no one home. Any serious heating energy saving tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My plants for beefsteak tomatoes grew beautiful and tall and lots of tomatoes were growing. I noticed the whiteflys, aphids and worms and have tried to deal with those . But something is eating these huge tomatoes one at time every night! All that is left is a very small piece of tomato at the stem. It looks like big bites are take, so I doubt it's a worm. I tried netting and "Critter Ridder" pellets and that didn't help. Last night I put down glue traps for mice and rats and caught a few crickets and a baby lizard. Do mice or lizards eat tomatoes? Can the worms possibly devour these huge tomatoes so quickly? I left one half green tomato outside at my BBQ area to ripen and that was devoured as well, so that's why I did not think the worms were doing this. I did not see any worms or worm holes on it when I put it there. Help! I'm so frustrated!!

oil in the air will settle on furniture, ceiling fan, and the floor. If i turn on my ceiling fan it just disperses the oil everywhere and makes the problem worse. is there some sort of minifan with a built in filter? i also thought about putting up a large screen above our heads but that just looks ugly.
