Nothing from a can that's for sure, ick!
Try scented candles, always nice:) or potpourri! If you need a quick spray of something pick out a nice essential oil, mix with water in a small bottle for a 'real' fresh fragrance! My favorites.. Lemon grass, Sandlewood, and Sara.
Be careful with that other crap you can buy..and be careful what you breath!

Actually, I don't use any kind of spray air freshener because we found out my Siamese cat is allergic to them her eyes break out with this brown goop. So what I do is I sprinkle baking soda every time I vacuum. I leave it for 15 minutes while I'm doing other housework and then vacuum it up. Not only does it leave the room smelling fresh it helps to prevent odors. I also put fabric softener sheets under the couch cushions, inside the vents, basically in any little nook and cranny and this leaves my house smelling fresh all the time.

In the summer, I use the outdoors air. The smell of nature is far better than any artificial room deodorizer. In the winter I will use Either Myrrhh, Frankincense or Lavender incense. Again , because they are natural scents and the incenses that I burn are NOT chemical based incenses but are either the actual granular incense or the essential oils themselves. Much better and longer lasting and more effective.

In the bathrooms, I use Febreze citrus/mandarin stuff. Also have the apple Cinnamon but do not like it as much.
Around the house, I burn Nag Champa and Super Hit incense, and occasionally amber and sandalwood.
But in the fall, there is nothing like opening the windows and getting pure fresh air (as long as the skunks in the area are sleeping .... LOL).

I believe it's called a neutra air. It takes a couple of batteries and a canister or air freshner and it sprays every 5,9, or 30 minutes. Works really well in our closet and lasts a long time.

In my home I tend to use the scents of vanilla and lavender, mostly something leaning towards aromatherapy, like lemon sage or sandlewood. In my car I have an Amy Brown air freshener, I just LOVE her fairy artwork. :-)

I use something I picked up at Big lots for
.99 cents a can. Its made by Bissell, it has staying power, you spray it and it lasts for hours, its not sticky and doesnt get all over the place.
