You would not park your car for 3-4 months and expect it to start would you? You wouldn't even expect a padlock to move if it had been locked for months without problems, or take a bike out after winter without oiling the chain? Try this: next year, turn the thermostat down on the wall and on the boiler, set the timer to central heating on for 10 mins every day, then miraculously, your boiler will start up when you need it. The system water should be clean and have inhibitor in it, but, out of sight out of mind most people don't give the poor boiler any consideration until it breaks, then they blame the boiler!

Hmmmm....it's only broke when you need to use it? I think there is something wrong with it all the time and you just don't notice.
