We bought this house back in January. The pool was in terrible condition. We drained the muck out of it, cleaned it best we could then filled it.

Read all over the internet, thought we figured everything out but the pool keeps falling into disrepair. We have to constantly shock it to make it look swimable... it either clouds up or turns green. We have never owned a pool before and nobody we know owns one either.

Anyone have any tips, faqs or anything else that would be helpful to us?

I bought some cute coasters in hopes of avoiding water rings on my furniture. It makes sense that the cute side goes up but I thought the cork side should go up to absorb the water. A friend told me the cork side goes down to prevent the coaster from sliding around or scratching the furniture surface. How are they used?

My daughter noticed some thing in the water, she scooped it up in a little container and it looked like it was a baby leach. We rent, but our water is from his well, are these leaches? What should I do about this?

These trees have been next to each other for years. All of a sudden needles turned brown, and only a few green ones left on very few branches on one side. My husband emptied an old water softner w some salt pellets at the base, and laid a bag of sacrete there too. Was that it?

Just purchased an old farm in NY, near Albany, and would love to have it working again. It has 3 pastures, a river and wooded parts totaling about 33 acres. Also has around 5 natural springs and a barn with what looks like 4 cow stalls, 1 horse stall, what looks like a pig penn and a sheep stall.

I'm hopping to start off small, maybe with sheep? Any websites would be great.

What can I do to get rid of that musty smell? I've tried candles, air fresener, etc.
These just mask the odor, I want to get rid of it.

It makes sense that having a home security system adds value to your home. Is there a certain criteriea used to estimate a percentage that it does increase with that system?

I've recently moved to Texas and it is so hot and dry here, I've killed just about everything I tried to grow outside. I have never had an herb garden before but was wondering if they are okay to grow inside where they wouldn't have a lot of access to sunlight and which ones might be a little heartier and easier to take care of since I have such a black thumb. Thanks!!

We like the neighborhood that we are in. Been here for 13yrs.
Hubby wants a huge garage attached to the house. We currently do not have one.
We have gotten estimates on it and it is going to cost in the neighborhood of $40K.
My inlaws tell us all the time, why don't you just move?
Well, 1st off, we are very comfortable with our mortgage payments and yes borrowing $40k will increase our payments.
My dad lives two houses away and I care for him on his dinner needs. He comes over every night.
Our son will be leaving home in a few years for college and I had plans to knock down a wall to enlarge living space.
We like all of our neighbors. I love my home.
I hate the thought of making move with all the crap in the attic!
A new home will probably increase our payments doubled.
What would you do?
Oh, inlaws wants us to move closer to them! NOT

I have heard that you cannot get an exterminator to kill them bc they are protected in some way. Is there any way to get something that irritates them or in some other way just makes them leave and go elsewhere? Is there any way to get rid of them at all?

I have somewhat large ant problem at my house, I had my house sprayed when i first bought it and i dident have ant or any sort of bug problems for about 2 years, but now its back. I dont have the money to hire them again (they were very expensive!!)
A guy i work with told me to use boric acid and mix it with 6 teaspoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of boric acid (powder) so i did and i cut up a sponge and soaked them and put them where i have ant problems. What else works good? he said im going to have to try and resist killing them for a few weeks untill it kills the colony, so far i havent seen a whole lot of ants eating it (i put it out about an hour ago) Can i put it outside as well? I live in the middle of no where so im not really worried about neighbor hood cats drinking it. Any advice would be great!!

I have an older house with a dirt basement floor and I'm worried they will try to take up residence inside. How can I either kill them or discourage them from coming near the house. I already keep the grass cut short and don't have much lying around that they would want to hide under. The one I think is a milk snake is kind of grey body with tan around black bloches. I live north of Kingston ON.

I guess this is more of a question and answer both! Besides sitting there for hours and shredding papers, I started putting my "used" cat's litter in with the trash! So far, no problems with anything I have done this with. Someone would have to be awful desperate to go through trash with "used cat litter" mixed in with it!! Any other answers would be appreciated. By the way, if you don't have a cat, ADOPT ONE or contact a local pet shop for "donations of used litter"!!! This should almost put an end to identity theft and may put your mind at ease a little.
