my tomatoes are growing out of control...first time grower...do I need to clip some of the leaves or should I just let them grow. I have 5 plants all of which are taller than me..5'7"

Good for you. You must be doing something right. You can prune your bushes if you want, but I'd stick to the branches that aren't producing. These are the suckers and they can be found in the forks of a main branch. Picture this Y as a forked branch and imagine a smaller unproductive branch growing out of the V part of the fork. Just pinch the sucker out. Other than that just enjoy the harvest, learn to make salsa, a sauce, and be generous with your friends, family, and neighbors. One year I grew 8 different varieties and I could barely keep up. I started filling sacks and hanging them on my neighbors doors. Needless to say, they were thankful :)

If they have little yellow flowers on them, they are fine. You can clip them back without killing them, Just cut the tallest stems to the height you want.
