I have somewhat large ant problem at my house, I had my house sprayed when i first bought it and i dident have ant or any sort of bug problems for about 2 years, but now its back. I dont have the money to hire them again (they were very expensive!!)
A guy i work with told me to use boric acid and mix it with 6 teaspoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of boric acid (powder) so i did and i cut up a sponge and soaked them and put them where i have ant problems. What else works good? he said im going to have to try and resist killing them for a few weeks untill it kills the colony, so far i havent seen a whole lot of ants eating it (i put it out about an hour ago) Can i put it outside as well? I live in the middle of no where so im not really worried about neighbor hood cats drinking it. Any advice would be great!!

I once used boric acid for "water bugs" (cockroaches) and it kept them away because it dehydrates them as they drag their legs through it. I don't know about for ants. BUT I've found those ant poison sticks with the jelly substance inside to be very effective.

If you live out in the middle of nowhere there are probably wild animals that would be attracted to your sweet poison sponges, so I'd avoid putting them outside.

Funny that you would ask this. I just answered a question from an ant colony. They said this guy moved into their neighborhood out in the middle of nowhere. They want to know how to get rid of him. I answered: invade his house and don't eat any boric acid. So I think you have been had. Good luck to you though.

Try cleaning with Murphy's Oil Soap. Ants will stay away. Use it to wash your floors, window sills and molding around your doors, anyplace where they enter your home.

It works for me. Good luck.

You can go to a discount store and purchase a gallon of indoor/outdoor spray and do it yourself. What you did wrong was to wait too long. We spray twice a year inside and out and have no problems.
