I keep my house very clean. I have a 7 month old baby, so I am religious about vacuuming, cleaning the counter tops, etc. And I STILL have roaches. I have done all the cleaning there is to possibly do. I have tried spray, baits, diatomaceous earth, and Borax, and nothing has worked. I have heard that roaches are attracted to water; is there any truth to this? My house has a cesspool that overflows frequently (not sure if that's relevant?), the sinks do not drain properly and the toilet does not flush properly either. Could this be the source of the problem? I am worried sick about my baby living in this house, but I cannot afford the rent any place else. Any suggestions?

Folders are too small and sheet protectors can't accomodate construction paper. We don't have much space but I really hate to trash my kids work. I know I cannot save EVERYTHING but I know I cannot leave their work shoved in every nook possible. No one can really enjoy them, they are getting ruined and it is CLUTTERED! Please help.

We finished our basement with wall-to-wall carpet. Everytime we go into the room, we are getting terrible static shocks from anything metal or light switches. Is there anything to treat a rug to reduce static or other methods to solve this?

My husband bought me roses for valentine's day, and some of the petals fell off. The petals are lovely, and I desire to preserve them. I would like to be able to preserve their brilliant color, and all of the flowers that I have dried have changed their color and lost their brilliance. Any suggetsions?

The plumber replaced our shower faucets and shower head. We used to have an $11.00 water-saving head and he gave us a moderately priced head that has 2 "speeds". (nothing too fancy)
Today I seemed to have run out of hot water (during an 8-minute shower) and the water hasn't drained out yet- very slow draining. Is the new head really that wasteful, or do we need to have him come back & check things?

My boyfriend sent me flowers via UPS from ProFlowers for Valentine's day that I recieved this morning. What is the best way to dry them so I can preserve them and when should I do it? i don't want to dry them before they peak, but I don't want them to die before I dry them out either.

I am attempting my first garden and I got some seeds and a indoor grower from Walmart. Nothing fancy. All the seed packets said to sart 6 weeks before last frost and because I live in Eastern NC with a somewhat early last frost date I started them a week ago. They are growing out of control and I'm afraid they are going to die. Some are over 4 inches tall already (sunflowers). The others are not so out of control but growing at a steady pace. The roots of some of them are already sticking out of the bottom of the peat bags. I guess my question is how do I keep them alive and healthy for 5 more weeks and can I transfer some of the larger plants into small pots?

We have electric baseboard heating that has functioned very well for many years. However, they are now starting to provide less than adequate heat or not work at all. We do not have ducting for forced air heating and cooling, and the extra insulation and attention to detail in the original contruction has meant that electric heat has not become unduly burdensome even with rising electicity costs. Any advice will be appreciated.
