Ikea selles them for about £5 but there's no way I'm spending a whole morning travelling to and queuing in Ikea just for this one item. Anyone know where else I could get one? Thanks!

What is an oveflow pipe and which is the one just at the base of the first floor as there is a wet patch. It also seems that there is a damp area I recently noticed on the other side inside the house. I noticed that the wet patch was worse when it rains. That does not make sense. It seems to be drying up a bit now since it did not rain. Also I notice a wet patch in the bathroom floor. But I am not sure if its related or actually two problems....

Compared to a propane gas furnace, how is an electric heat pump? I hear that it's better to have a propane gas furnace as backup, but using primarily the electric heat pump will save a lot on energy bills. But I have also heard that the electric heat pumps don't provide adequate heat sometimes.

Anyone have experience with an electric heat pump?

I'm having a house built in El Paso, TX and am about to close in 2 weeks. Today the air conditioner units went in. It turns out they are on the roof and are a complete eyesore! Is there any benefit to having the ac units on the roof? How difficult would it be to have moved to the ground instead? Thanks so much.

I recently noticed some large gnats in my kitchen. I put my trash can outside the back door and cleaned the kitchen well. I even put out a glass of wine hoping they would all drown(a few did). I thought this would help but they seem to be multipling. I have sprayed them a couple of times with bug spray but they aren't going anywhere.... Ideas?

I love moss. It's fuzzy, velvety, and soft. And it's cute. Does anyone else have feelings about moss?

What is the BEST way to make potpourri out of roses given to you?? I am very sentimental and love saving roses from my husband. I know that all you do is let them dry up but over weeks, months and or years it gets this moldy smell or just doesn't look right. And also what would be the best container (open, airy, closed...) to keep it all in? Thanks!

We had a bizarre surprise tonight - a good-sized toad was inside our toilet just under the rim. I'm just wondering if there was a way he might have come in through the plumbing, or if he must have found some other route. I don't know much about plumbing so I don't know what's possible. In case it is relevant ... we have a septic system. Anyone know?!?

By the way... the kids are trying to talk us into keeping the toad for a pet, in which case it will be named "John." And the next time someone goes in the toilet it will be referred to as "toad stool." And since it was in the potty, our son is very interested in trying to get his sister, the princess-fanatic, to kiss the toad.

I went to a saw mill and purchased large HUNKS of scrap wood to use in my fireplace. These are some seriously hard, dense pieces of wood, pretty sure its oak. I know if I was using a wood stove they would burn hot for quite awhile. but I cant seem to get it catch in my fireplace. I have been attempting to burn it for a couple of hours now. all the small pieces of wood and kindling lit and burned w/no problem. This piece is getting scorched and black, but its not giving off any flame. whats up with that?

my son and I have been experiencing trouble @home,i was assulted a few weeks ago in front of my son,and because of the assult,we had been placed on the emergency re-housing list a the council. To cut a long story short,we have been offered a bigger flat, but the other side of town and away from our family. The new place needs a lot of work doing on it,and its in a slighty rough area of town.If I decide not to take this place,i will probably be wiped off the priority list, and we will have to stay here in a place that makes me feel anxious. If I do take it,it will mean living in a badly conditioned flat for a while ,whilst I try and get the money together to make it liveable(im a single parent)what do you think I should do?
