What should the thread tension be set at for sewing denim?

Use polyester thread. Cheap thread, old thread and 100 cotton can break easily. As far as the tension, it is hard to just tell you the number. You have to do test stitches and turn it over and look to see if it is too loose or too tight then adjust accordingly.

All machines are different, so giving you a thread tension is not the answer. Most times the thread will break just because the machine isn't threaded properly, or the bobbin is messed up

you should have it on about 4 . anytime it keeps breaking you either got bad thread or the tension is set to high. just back it off and see how it works then. also make sure you got the machine properly threaded thia causes it to break a lot.

your tension is too high lower it a little and see . find out what works best by experimentation as they are all different and your needs are different from others
