We used to have to get up 1 hour before we went to bed to get the wood in for the fire in the house so we could melt the water from the ice on the inside of our window to make our tea. How did people cope seeings we now have a breeding ground for germs who love central heating?

Can anyone tell me the cheapest and most efficient way of heating it. Had a mobile gas heater last year but the room needed ventilating so defeated the object.

Normal bubble-bath causes foam to almost reach the bathroom ceiling - even when you use a small amount!

You helped me save my begonia in the past, due to my total ignorance. Now, it does not appear to have fungus, but the leaves are drooping at the edges. I don't put too much water in it, as that is what gave it the fungus. Is it getting too little? It is in an south-facing window bay in Southern California. Do leaves droop during cold? Any help would be appreciated.

Since its started to get cold outside we have had lots of spiders in our apartment. The apartment complex isn't very helpful with those types of things. We want to make sure that our toddler isn't bitten by speders in her sleep. What can we do?

I live in the uk, my house is over run with spiders. I have to kill them at the moment cos they're massive and frighten me to death. They're also territorial, i.e., run towards you rather than away! They're making a mess when I squash them I'd rather have a repellant to keep them out the house, prevention rather than death! I'd like to know if there's a repellant I can make.

I have a Daikin Heating/Cooling System in my flat. I haven't got the foggiest on how to turn the heating system on and with it getting colder its going to be a problem. Is is a panel with pictures and the manual doesn't say in plain English how to change the damn thing! Is there anyone in Southfields in South West London on here that can show me how to work it?

I have slugs in my front my sitting room which opens to the garden. I keep thinking because it is damp outside with the constant rain the slugs are coming in. The problem is I do not know how they get in. I usually wake up in the morning and see slug trails on my carpet usually in the same area of the carpet. I don't know how they get in or how they get out. Are they coming from the garden or is there some "slugs" nest somewhere?

They are leaving trials in the grass (just the weight of their bodies making these trials) and it only seems to be one corner of the garden.
