dont let any sort of food you need to place open.,,,,,,,, Second, use boric acid powder by sprinkling it under cabinets and around the baseboards.....so they ll avoid cumng down.

Same way you get rid of Lounge Lizards.., Just don't buy them any drinks.
On a serious note, I have never heard of that problem before. I would suggest placing mothballs in strategic locations - WHERE CHILDREN and Pets can not get at them. That stuff would repel even snakes.
OR Try this web link about controlling Snakes and Lizards

No offense,,,I had to interject.
I allow them, though don't strictly INVITE them. I live in Central FL, and Geccos are a fact of life here. SO are millions of insects, which Geccos enjoy.
Sadly,,,on one level, I also have a young cat,,, "Hunter" so named for her prowess and tenacity in palmetto bug hunting. My house is free of them. The sadness is that she also enjoys Gecco safaris, and they end up the trophies.
On a serious note, keeping doors and/or windows secured, or not left open on ground levels for extended periods. Keeping screening intact, and when a Gecco happens in, just catch and release.
Ya gotta love the Geico Gecco.

They serve a purpose; to minimise the nuisance of insects & other pests in your house. If lizard population increases beyond a limit, which is unlikely, you can use cats to take care of that.
