Curtains are a very formal application, not-to-mention more expensive. My vote would be for blinds. There are a lot of choices for vertical blinds, but there are also a lot of vertical blind alternatives to consider. Such as sliding panels, vertical honeycombs, vertical sheer blinds, etc. I am a little biased since I work at this company, but I think we have a great selection of products with exceptional pricing. I will provide a couple of links below. I hope this helps. Happy shopping.

I love the soft light curtains in bedrooms. In the other rooms, I just like blinds. I have the large plantation type of blinds in the living room, and dining room. Blinds are not easy to clean, so I like the verticals. I have the verticals in the den, as I have a sliding door, and can just open it that way, sideways. They have pieces that go over the top of the blinds, so it is nicer looking, a cornice board, that gives the same affect that a valance of material, would give to the blind. Just some added color, or print. Also the verticals, a wood board made for the right measurements, usually they are custom made. You can also get some material and cover a board over the blinds to give a softer effect. I like Lacy curtains in the bedroom, and I do wash them, and just put them in the dryer for a few minutes and they come out perfect. We live in a area that gets dusty, so the curtains are a problem to keep clean if you have very many of them, and heavy, etc. I guess I would like blinds better, and have not had curtains in most of the house in years.

I think curtains make a room feel more cosy, I've got blinds at the moment and I feel like I'm sat in an office. They also get dusty and are difficult to clean, where as you can wash curtains.

Personal choice on cosmetics. You can get black out blinds, or lined curtains to stop the majority of light. Curtains can be washed.
My wife likes us to have both.

Personal choice.
Blinds are rather clinical I think, curtains give more of a home feel, and are fairly good at keeping in the heat .Apparently having curtains down to the floor are as good as double glazing.
Don't come back to me and say that your rads are under the window, they should be behind the door and not under the windows, builders for some reason are still putting them under windows !!!!!!

To answer this we need to know a lot more about you the location where said blinds/curtains intended for the lighting conditions and anything else that might affect your judgement as to what/which is most suitable.
Sorry it's beyond my ken.

I have a huge window and i find it easrier to have both to avoid the sun, blinds can never truly cover and can be ugly at times but look good fromthe outside whilst curtains look good from the inside and cover more, plus add to the decor. hope it helps

Curtains......trust me...blinds go weak and brittle as days and months pass by..while with curtains you can choose a variety of colors and designs that match your mood...
