Sounds kind of funny but I thought I'd ask to get some opinions. I might just try it for fun.

Seems like when I roof rake I pull the snow right to the gutter system and it ends up building up and icing over. North side facing roof is the biggest problem. There is a rubber liner extending up part way under the roof itself but my concern is that may not be suffient as I see all the build up.

I bought a thermometer and it says my oven is 550 when it should be at 375. I particularly don't care (we are renting) because we rarely cook in the oven. I was telling my mom what I am planning on saying to the owner, and when she heard that it was that overheated, she mentioned how once her element blew up, and her neighbors had also, and that they were both lucky it happened with the oven door closed or else they could have lost their faces looking as they know them.

Anyway, the question is, what would cause an element to blow up like that, and should I ask the landlord to fix it since I don't care that it is off (I just go by the thermometer).

Thanks, Emily

Bare with me, please, sorry this is long!
I have been using baby wipes that are not flushable. I finally realized that when my toilet plugged up a few weeks ago and overflowed a little. When it happened I turned the knob for the toilet all the way to the right and the water turned off. Luckily, it started to go back to normal and stopped overflowing before I even turned it all the way off.
Tonight all I did was flush a spider down the toilet with a piece of toilet paper, and it started to plug up again. It was so close to overflowing, but it didn't. I didn't have a plunger, so I turned the toilet off and went to the store to get one, and bought a box of RID-X. But I don't want to use it until it flushes back to normal. It will flush, but it will fill up higher than normal before it does. I now know to not use baby wipes that aren't flushable. And I've been plunging for a while now and I've only gotten like one baby wipe out. Nothing after that.

We have a gas stove with an electric ignition. At first the oven dial would not turn, you could push it down but it would not turn and thus would not ignite. We have not had time to work on it until today(about 4 days total unusued). But now we got the dial to turn and push down but it is as if there is no gas coming out to ignite. How can we fix this with out getting a profession and without buying a new one?

In checking the coil/magnito there is continuity between the kill wire attached to the coil/magnito and the case without the kill switch being in the "off" position. Does this mean the coil/magnito is bad?

We have an oil furnace in our house (2200 sq ft). We recently got a new thermostat and it says that the heater sometimes is running for 8 hours in a 24 hour period. Also, our oil bill has been very high the past two years. We keep the thermostat at 56 at night and 63 in the daytime, only putting it to 70 for a few hours in the early evening. We live in PA, it's been a pretty mild winter. Is this normal?

The resurface I've seen came off after awhile. Maybe that has changed since the big tub resurfacing boom several years ago. I hope so. We do not want to replace ours. It would be a very big job to get it out of our bathroom. The bath itself is in a cubby hole surely built after and around the tub.

About a week ago my little sister spilled nailpolish all over her wooden table. We tried acetone and nailpolish remover and it still won't come off. We tried telling my mom that but she is still trying to get me to get it off.

Any another ideas to getting it off or is it just not possible?
