Sears sells the nut for $10, if I could find the size I could buy it for $1, just trying to save a few bucks. I'd rather keep the money than give it to Sears

Sears may have you by the .....
Not a standard nut you will find in a hardware store.
Pretty sure it is common for other brands also.
Might try repair clinic or parts clinic. or a specialty tool repair site.

I usually try and measure the OD of the arbor thread, and then estimate the number of threads per inch. I think you will find it is most like a jam nut (thin). My best guess would be a 5/8" - 18 UNF Jam nut.
