I am replacing my hot water heater tomorrow (gas not electric). I have a wife, and two kids (ages 5 and 1). I'd like to be able to take 2 baths at the same time. How many gallons do I need in my water heater? I'm not being greedy. I don't want 5 baths, a dryer, washing machine, etc..). I just want to be able to take 2 baths at the same time.

It seems to be coming from underneath the machine. I've checked the filter, the water pipes, the emptying hose but they all seem ok. Still, a pool of water gathers under the machine on the floor. What could cause this and would it be worth getting fixed? I've had a mad year of things breaking in my house. God! Now its carrying into 2007! Please help, someone!

I purchased a bedset from Art Van last Feb. My bedframe keeps cracking right down the face of the bed posts. I've had my bed replaced twice now and it's not even a year old yet. I just found out that I have not recieved a new warranty with these beds and my warranty will expire next month. Anyone know what I can do about this? Is there any way I can get them to take this bedroom set back and replace it with a different style? They are supposed to have a 5 year warranty I can buy for $100, but they say I could only buy that within 30 days of recieving the bed, even if they would allow me to buy it now should I, I will just end up with a bed that's split in 5 years right? Any help is appreciated!

When I make a hard boiled egg, I usually cook them and then peel them under running water to remove any small pieces of egg shell and for convenience. So, my question is; is it bad for the plumbing to put egg shells down the drain, even if you use the garbage disposal?

Is there a way to tell if a heat tape is thermostatically controlled by looking at it. Should it be labeled as such. I had heat tape installed on my copper pipes last year and specified I wanted thermostatically controlled heat tape. I am not sure if it is or not and wanted to have it put on new pex pipes. Someone told me that if it were thermostatically controlled, it would have a dial near the plug. I'm confused. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

My hot water tank is 2 years old. The run off pipe leaks(and yes I just changed my pressure valve)and that didnt help. Also its a 40 gallon tank and it only allows you to take one short shower. What is the problem? Thanks.

Iam converting from a tub to a shower fixture. Iam converting to a plastic shower drain and will make a cement flooring with a ceramic tile finish. What are important points for converting to a plastic shower drain and leakproofing the cement flooring?

Hired remodeler to rebuild a stand-up shower. Now it won't drain. When I run a power snake, it comes up with grey (wet) powder on it. I suspect thinset, grout, or (doubtful) concrete. Remodeler now in jail (yikes!), so he's no help.

How do you get through this without busting out the slab? What about muriatic acid or other agent?

I have a Thorn gas boiler (approx 20 years old) and I dont seem to be able to get the water hot enough. I can only get hot water when the central heating is off and its switched to water only. When the heating's on the water is luke warm. I have checked the pump and its shown on setting two (out of 3), the thermostat is set on 4 (out of 5), can any one tell me how to get them both working together. I have had the boiler serviced in the last year and the guy couldnt explain this phenomenon. I have very poor hot water pressure in the kitchen only if that makes a difference and all the radiators are heating up fine. Please help I am sick of having tepid baths!!!

thankyou in advance

The oven door of my Britannia cooker is faulty - the hinges have unhinged and I can't get it back again.
Britannia cannot advise how to repair and wonder if there is a good website anyone can recommend that shows how to repair ovens?

I have been checking all the exit signs in the building in which I am I charge of. I push the test switch and the light goes dim, they all work, but the light is very dim. Are these things like emergency ballasts and have a battery that can eventually go bad?

I don't know what I was thinking, but I used Elmer's Glue to plug up some holes in our window screen that a cat had made. It dripped. It dried. It looks awful.

Now how do I dissolve it so that I can repair it properly? I really don't want to replace the entire screen!

I got a real good deal on a house. It came on the market after the woman who lived there disappeared and her live-in boyfriend moved out of state. Its a great place except for one thing. The basement has a foul smell. Its not a musty basement smell either. It smells like something is rotting.
I've tried to track down the source. It seems to be coming from a fresh patch of concrete on the floor. Does concrete rot? Did they use the wrong kind of concrete? Is there some kind of sealer I could put on it to block the smell?
