if the heater is oil or gas it could be giving off exhaust fumes or using up oxygen in the house i doubt the air is dry now. a central heating system with a electronic air filter gives off ozone that can bother some people

What kind of heater are you talking about?
If it's a kerosine heater, or propane, or some other kind that uses fuel, then you may be suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.

what kind of heater. LP, NATURAL GAS, KEROSENE these are types that are vent free, if you have one of these, you need to supply fresh air from surrounding rooms and/or outside You may crack an outside door for a short period of time

because your lungs need warm moist air.Not hot air that drys your mouth, throat and lungs.You might try putting a humidifier in the room with the heater.

also, a central gas heater has a heating chamber that can crack or rust and cause fumes and noxious gases to enter your home.

You may also be developing asthma or other health related problem that is affected by the heat.

Make sure your air filter is changed regularly.
