The tech support is down at Lennox and I need to know how powerful of a generator I need to buy. The manual that came with the furnace doesn't say!!!! (Why not?) I tried to call the installers and they couldn't tell me. The furnace is a Lennox High efficiency G61 MPV.

Check the fuse or circuit breaker panel. I'll bet it is only 15 amps. This is equivalent to 1800 watts, and this is the maximum for starting the furnace. You may find that a 1500 watt generator, capable of an 1800 watt surge is adequate. I have found this to be so for myself as well. I am able to use the Coleman Sportsmate (little cube shaped one) with power to spare for a couple lights.
