We had a 2.5 ton unit instaled last year, but seems to run constantly. Some one advised us that the contractor shold have used a 3 ton. The thermostat is on the second floor, however the ground floor temperature seems to always reach anywhere from 75-78 degrees if it is only 80 degrees outside. Will a larger unit make a difference? Does anyone have any other recomendations?

I am moving soon. I don't know if I should move into a hand-built or a put-together. I think hand-built because it is bigger and I want a large house. I want one in Chino, California or Santa Monica, California. Everything and everyone will come with me. The kids are happy to be moving. I will get a new job there. But I will still breed my dogs and spay/neuter the old ones.

Anyone know how to repair a chip in any of the above? There must be something you can fill a chip with (especially a tiny one) before painting over it. Also, what is the best glue for repairing breaks (strong and dries clear). M.

I'm having a problem with the safety valve/drain which is placed between the main water valve (which controls the water entering into the house) and the boiler/heater. At night - and this only happens at night, after 9 p.m. - the valve leaks, draining excess water into the outside sewage drain. This is obviously beacause of excess water pressure. So my questions are:
-should I replace the safety valve/drain? It's pressure rating is 7 bars
-Any other way of reducing the water pressue w/o replacing the valve?
-Any idea why this only happens at night?

The seals seem fine, but the refrigerator suddenly won't turn off (adding about $40/month to the electric bill), and the freezer is full of frost. Thanks for any advice!

When my furnace fan is running (central air) and I start the clothes dryer (located in basement), or the kitchen vent, the fireplace (main level of ranch home) backdrafts and the home begins to smell smokey. This occurs when there is no fire and the flue damper is closed. The fireplace has a vent. I have also added a flex tubing running from the outside into the basement to provide "make-up" air for the furnace in the basement. Nothing seems to work - any advice would be greaty appreciated.

We had a water pipe freeze and burst last winter. I had to cut the plastic barrier under my modular to fix it. I put up some black plastic and duct taped it to the existing barrier. I went under the house the other day and discovered that the duct tape gave and moisture had intruded inside the plastic liner. Now I have a mildew smell coming from my kitchen sink and recently renovated bathroom. Any one have any ideas?

OOOPS I wasn't clear enough-- the re-set button is not on the motor housings ( 2 pump-motors ) it is on the heater box which contains the GFI, Electic heater, and all the switches, the timer and all the low-volt fuses

It is not the G.F.I. or the circuit-breaker, just the re-set button, it will run for days without problem and then trip occasionally for a day or 2 and then work fine again.
