My hot-tub keeps tripping the re-set button, it does not do it all the time may go for days without tripping?

It is not the G.F.I. or the circuit-breaker, just the re-set button, it will run for days without problem and then trip occasionally for a day or 2 and then work fine again.

im guessing you mean the reset on the motor?

If that is the case, either the motor meeds cleaned on the outside so it can cool itself when it runs,

or the motor or pump bearings are seizing and need replaced.

If you are talking about the red plastic button on the motor it's self, that is a thermal switch.

There are two possible problems:

1) Is there something else on the circuit that is reducing the available voltage to the pump.
Reduced voltage, increases the amperage. Amperage increases heat.

2) It's in a confined area that gets hot on occasion. And the ambient air it too warm to cool the motor effectivly.


There are more things that could be an issue, but I'd check those first.

The reset button is thermal motor protection. You may need new bearings or you have a ambient heat problem. If you have a infrared thermometer check the bearing temperature while the motor is running. If your spa is older than 3 years old, you may as well replace the bearings.

the hot tub main circuit breaker should be a ground fault type and wear out. need a electrician to replace

very simple!! your impellers are woking too hard usually because of debris,,,ie, hair, scum,, and ooops!!! run a good cleaning solution thru it,, drain and repeat,,, then rinse!!!
