Just wondering what the advantages/disadvantages would be for each case. I work in a restaurant and can get 100's of seeds like tomatoes, pepper, eggplant, etc.. for free every day. I want to plant some at home to start my vegetable garden, will they work ok? Or will pre-packaged seeds grow better due to some coating or treatments?

I sprayed spider repel (safe herbs) inside and it helped, but every morning there are tons of webs all over the outside of my car,I'm just worried one will scare me while i'm driving and cause an accident!!

my friend calls it a mules tail . It looks like a rainfall hanging down the pot, its green & has lil pods sort of reminds u of bananas, only very miniature. to grow your own all u do is take a small banana off and lay it on the dirt ,, it grows pods in no time at all like 2 days.

I am growing mint and basil on my window sill and they have grown white flowers at the tips. Is this a problem? Will it effect the quality of the herbs? Should I cut them off or can I just continue harvesting the herbs as usual.

I am considering purchasing an 8ft inflatable swimming pool (designed for adults every in the UK seems to sell them) but i remember when i was a child my parents lawn always used to end up yellow and dead, is there any way i can stop this form happening with the pool? I don't think moving it around is feasable as they are quite big, i was guessing maybe you could buy some sort of matt that will allow the grass to breath? but then i guess it still needs light. who knows? any ideas?

While we were out of town, our neighbors (who we get along good with) decided to paint our fence (which is on our property) that they look at from their patio. We had no idea of this and we got no choice in the color. They did their side and 1/2 way up another side and left it. They didn't even tell us they did it. Yes, our fence needed painted, but they used a color and stain we would not of used. Now we have to finish the fence (in the heat of summer) with a color we don't like. We were not planning to deal with the fence till next spring. How do we tell them, or should we that we are not pleased with what they did?

I bought a new house, and during the long moving process the summer drought killed my lawn. After several heavy rains, it apparent that the front yard is dead.

What would you do with such a yard (and HOW)? Zone 6, >deep slant<, 100% sun in some areas, part shade in about 10%. Dead grass in half of the yard in large patches near the street.

What are my options? Re-sod (who do I contact)? Ground-covering (how do I get that started, how long until entire yard is covered)? Throw down some grass seed & hope it grows? What to do?

I recently bought and planted salvia coccinea in pots with potting soil. I heard they are drought tolerant and can grow to 28 inches.

However, I find I need to water them everyday in the pot to keep the leaves from wilting and the stem sagging.

If I stop watering them it seems they will die in days. What's the deal?

I live in a very hot climate in Southern California (near Palm Springs) where the average summer temperature is 110 degrees. Is it the HEAT that is making the salvia look bad? I heard they need full sun.

I was hoping that I could water them once or twice a week.

I am a greenthumb novice and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm using flexible pvc tubing for my pond. The tubing is smooth on the inside and I was told to use a barbed fitting with a hose clamp on the outside. I have 1 1/2 tube and 1 1/2 fitting. But the tubing wont slide on, I've tried as hard as I can to foce it but to with no success.

My question is will PVC Primer soften the tube to the point where it will stretch over the fitting?
