Second round of snow storm coming here in Minnesota, just wondering if there was anything I could put on our driveway before the storm comes to make shoveling easier in the morning...

Does salt work if you put it down BEFORE the storm? other handy ideas?

We have 15 old neglected apple trees, bearing horrible fruit.
What would we need to do to (besides pruning) to get them to bear well again?

I have 5 acres, 4 of which grow poison ivy too well. There are vines, sprouts, ...all types. What is THE BEST way to eradicate this so I don't have to worry about my nephews and nieces returning home with an unwanted souvenir from their visit to our home?

I recently saw a potted plant that was dried up, with hollow membranous bulbs like dropping hearts, and there was a small orange-red fruit? inside (looked like a pepper honestly).

I am REALLY curious what this plant is... as I found that its dried state was really beautiful... please help... I'll look up anything suggested to see if it is what I am referring to... otherwise, I don't have a clue!

My cycad is going yellow from the stem out. I have the plant in area where is received light for most of the day without being in the direct sun. I live in Cairns Australia and my zone is 9. I have other cycads in the same pots and they don't seem to be suffering. Yes they do get a regular drink, but not everyday.

I'm new at palm cultivation. Recently I collected a couple of seeds from a nearby foxtail palm but the seeds are still green... I heard they are red when ready to cultivate. If I put them at sun for some time would they become ready? They have to be at sun with fruit or without fruit? Or can I cultivate them green... even if they take some time to spread...

We are in the process of trying to landscape our front yard. I would like to find some fast growing really attractive but not messy trees. I dont mind leaves, but I do not want to have to deal with the mess that sometimes accompanies fruit trees. I would like for them to grow to no more than about 60 ft. tall. Any Suggestions? I would love to have trees that would provide wonderful color durning the fall and winter.
Thanks
Cheryl

We have done some pricing and it looks like the fencing that is in our budget is going to be a wood picket fence. Do you think that this would look good in front of a brick home with black/grey roof and grey trim work. Should I paint and what color do you recommend.
Thanks

is a delightful little plant inherited with this property, and I would like to either propagate or buy another. Can anyone tell me anything about it? I have it in Tasmania, and it could well be an Australian native, though unlikely. Thanks in advance to the many good gardeners who patrol these forums.

I have a lot of grass and I want to take some of it out to plant a veggie garden, What is the easiest way to do this?

If I have to digg down to pull it out, how deep do i have to go to make sure that the grass does not grow again.
Thanks
