We have done some pricing and it looks like the fencing that is in our budget is going to be a wood picket fence. Do you think that this would look good in front of a brick home with black/grey roof and grey trim work. Should I paint and what color do you recommend.
Thanks
Cheryl

A white picket fence always looks classy. It is hard work though to paint and high maintenance. If it was stained and varnished it wouldn't have to be washed down so often, which in turn leads to having to repaint it more frequently.

Budget or not. Think about the long term cost of maintaining a fence. I installed fences with my dad for many years. and I would personally perfer VINYL fencing. It does cost more but there is no painting and very little upkeep. no rotting wood. Looks just like wood picket fencing. Wood picket fence should be installed with presure treated wood for posts (so they dont rot) - Even chain link is good if you buy the privacy slats.
