We recently bought a home with about and acre pond that we know little about. There are cattails surrounding the pond and take away from the beauty of it....what is the best way to get rid of them?

Thanks in advance!

Hate to say this- but better check with DNR. I know someone who was told its illegal to get rid of them- they are nature!, and these other people could only clear a small area of them, with permission. Good luck.

YES- Check with DNR first. I live in Minnesota and it is illegal here to dig up or destroy cattails. You face a very hefty fine if you do so!

Guess it all depends on what you call beauty. Myself, i love cat tails. You could cut them, spray them with hairspray and sell them as dried flowers.
