I once had the greatest book. It was large and had a white cover. Whenever I had a question about anything in the yard I could find it here.

I received a catalog in the mail yesterday and really am thinking of trying my hand by planting at least one rose bush next season and was wondering if there was any advice for a person just learning about roses and how to care for them? How to prepare the dirt and when to give rose food and how often?

The one that I was looking at to buy is called a Hybrid Tea and has a coral-pink tone to its petals and grows to 5 feet tall and prefers full sun, which I have a lot of.
I live in Zone 5.

I drove up to San Francisco from Orange County taking the five and I just loved all of those groves of trees that were all over the place for nearly the whole trip. They had dark bark at the trunk, and then the branches were almost reddish-looking but they turned grey right at the top. They weren't very tall and it was winter so they had no leaves. Any ideas?

For years my mum always used to say that she never put plants in the bedrooms because they feed on oxygen at night time. I took this for granted and did the same - until I realised what a load of rubbish it was - I now share my room with a Venus Fly Trap, a tree and a couple of other vegetable-type things! Surrounded by em - the natural surroundings actually seems to make me sleep better.

Do you, or did you, have a plant-free bedroom?!?
