I'm not sure that the talking, itself, will help the plant grow, but the following possible byproducts of talking to a plant may -
* inspect your plants for insect and other damage while you are talking; take appropriate action
* observe soil moisture content and water as needed during daily conversations
* share the sunshine with your potted plants and give them a turn so a different side of the plant is facing the window every few days while discussing the weather outside
* add a touch of 1/2 strength fertilier every few weeks during the growing season to each of your plant friends while you munch on a snack
In other words, if talking to your plants makes you, the gardener, more attentive and observant, then I think that "Talking to Plants" will help them grow.

it has been proved that caring or feeling love for plants ,play music and talk to them does make a difference and the people who do this are called people who have green fingers ,a green hart would be closer to the point
plants do have feelings ,for Christians this must be an Alien concept ,they dont even believe that animals have feelings or a soul which acounts for so much mistreatment of animals and destruction of Natiure done by them .
North American Natives dance around a tree chanting that they are going to kill it and quickly cut its neighbour down taking it by suprisse to lessen its suffering
they have done various experiments with a lie detector
which is conected to a plant
several people walk by and one of them cuts of a leaf
when the people are brought before the plant again it gives a violent reading on the machine when the guy with the knife comes near ,this experiment has been done with trees as well and always the same results
so as to who or what has feelings may not be as you have always believed.

Yes there are, mad isn't it. Prince Charles is thought to be a firm believer in this phenomenon. I suppose it could have some grounds in that when we breath out it releases carbon dioxide which plants then use up in photosynthesis.
Personally i'd rather just go to a friends house for a chat. Bit more interactive!!

sound can play a role in development, the vibrations can create beneficial or harmful stimulation.
google "plants scream" and you will see results of scientific studies that show plants can detect and chemically "scream" when harm is about to be done. they also "know" when they are cared for. so yes, people DO believe in talking to plants (but singing is even better)

I just saw this on "Mythbusters" on the discovery channel. They took several greenhouses and planted peas, The control group had no sound, one group had constant yelling/heavy metal music, another group had soothing music and reassuring talking to them. The group that had the soothing music and reassuring talking grew the best.

, Yes its true because they are beings of nature they feed ,drink, reproduce and they need tenderness. Some plants/shrubs/flowers are hardy, but they still respond to sound ,light, temperature changes and vibrations in the atmosphere. They turn to the direction of the sun and nod their heads in a breeze,They need living entities around them ,have you listened to the bees language when they collect pollen from a flower. So carry on talking to flowers.Lindsay
