I have a 7.5 foot pre-lit Christmas tree, their is a section of about 30 lights that are out, I took every single one of those 30 lights out and replaced them with other lights that I know were working, that didn't work, I then replaced the fuses, that didn't work either, what could be causing this small section to stay out? Its rather frustrating and I've been at it for about 3 hours. The 30 section is part of a stand of about 100 lights, though the other 70 or so lights on that strand are lit, only about 30 lights on one strand are not lit...I am so confused, I didn't know this was possible! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

this would be more a more convenient place than where the current one is now. I know the height between the floor and ceiling is 8 feet but I do not know how much is between the ceiling downstairs and the floor upstairs. Is there a standard way I can calculate the amount of room I will need to build the staircase?

I found an entertainment center with a broken glass door, so I removed the door that was still intact.

Its a rosey beige color. I wanted to paint some sort of oriental cherry blossom theme onto it with some black and maybe a little creme paint.

The big idea is that its hung so that it stands about an inch or two off the wall. Since its just a solid sheet of glass I wondering how I could accomplish and still maintain a pleasant clean aesthetic quality.

How would I go about drilling holes in the glass? Do they do things like this at Home Depot or Lowes? Is it difficult to do and what type of tools are required?

Or does anyone have any suggestions of how I could accomplish this look without having holes drilled?

I've been thinking about it for a while now and I can't come up with something that would look nice without drilling but I'm open to new ideas.

We are getting our house ready to sell but don't want to have to do too much repainting - just brighten it up a bit. Our walls in our living room and front hall are a bluish-gray to go with our ocean theme - we have a lighthouse border in the room. We chose for the border paint (baseboards, windows etc) a slightly lighter blue-gray that is almost indistinguishable from the walls. What color would look best on the trim to complement the blue-gray walls other than what we have? Would an antique white be the best?

I just move into a new appartment, all the walls are white and it is driving me crazy. When I signed the lease the guy said that i could paint pastells. I don't know what he means by that. I know he means light colors. But what is consitered light. I am into nutral colors. Browns, grays, ets. But I like a little punch of color. I would like to paint the back splash in my kitchen maroon (maybe) I don't want it to be a "pastell" I like richer colors too. I just don't want to get in trouble. I am willing to help paint when i move out (that won't be for years) but I will help. should i paint any color i want or should i stick to the light colors or should i just say screw it and keep the walls white.

I dont want to put a Curtain there because then it will get all wet and Mildewy. I dont want t put a tacky looking plastic or bag. I dont understand why people put windows in a shower, thats a real DUMB thing to do. I thought about Mini-Blinds, but is that really my only option? Im sure someone else has this kind of shower, what did you put in your shower?

My mother has an absolute fear about too many people in her house at one time. Here are specifics of her home. Can anyone tell me what should be a safe amount of people in her house at one time. With Thanksgiving approaching she is already panicked. We are expecting about 24 people for dinner.
What is a normal "people load" for a house with the below specifics:

Tudor home 1.5 Story (Brick Exterior)
Built in 1943
Lot dimensions: 25 x 125
Dimensions of the rooms on the main floor are as follows:
Living room = 12 x 30
Dining room = 12 x 12
Kitchen = 10 x 13
Family Room = 14 x 11
Bedroom 1 = 10 x 13
Bedroom 2 = 10 x 12

I know that you can't speak to the soundness of this specific home, BUT if you can just give us some typical guidelines that might apply, we would all be forever grateful...(all 24 of us).
Very best regards, Rdhead500
