I am using Taubmans Duraclean in cream and am finding that I need to use an undercoat and 2-3 coats of paint to cover a very light blue/grey wall. The paint goes on fine and gives coverage then seems to lose its volume upon drying, exposing the previous colour. I have never had this kind of poor coverage before...is it me or the paint.

My drier is only a year old and all of the sudden it stopped drying my clothes completely. It takes about a cycle and a half to dry them. It still gets hot and spins. Anyone have an idea of what else it could be?

I colored my hair using a red hairdye, and stupid me, some of the dye got onto the linolium bathroom floor. The linolium is mostly white. I didn't catch this until bit later in the evening. Will using a clorox cleaner (already has bleach in it) work in getting the stain out, or would it be better for me to use regular bleach? I'd like to have the stain totally gone before my roommate comes home in a few days.

Lesson learned: ALWAYS wear old clothing and cover the bathroom floor and sink with old towels or newspaper.

I bought my flytrap two weeks ago. Its traps are turning black now. I dont know what is wrong with it. I used rain water and bottle water for the plant. (The rain water have been there for a long time and is not very clean...)I keep it under the sun for about 10 hours per day. Please tell me what to do to save my plant. Can you give me some tips for growing venus flytrap?

I'm not really sure if this is the place to ask, but I'm wondering if someone can help me out and tell me what type of butterfly this is? It's black with yellow stripes, but is not a swallowtail. The picture was taken today in a park in Florida by a river, if that means anything.

There's a picture of it, and there is another picture in there of the underside of the same type of butterfly.... it has some red markings on it. Thanks!

It is a reasonably established plant, about 6-7 years at least, and has always flourished in the past, flowering well every spring etc.
However, just over the last 2 or 3 weeks, the leaves have started turning brown at their bases, quickly spreading through the leaf and the plant looks really sick! We have been suffering a drought for some years now, so it might have got too dry, but all the other plants around it look okay - fuschias, a bouvardia and a couple of small conifers.
What should I do? Grateful for any green fingers advice anyone can offer...

I was changing the garbage disposal with the switch off and power wire hit the ground wire and sparked. This is when I knew there was a wiring problem at the switch. The power went out on the circuit(as it should). I reset the breaker but can't get power to the kitchen outlets. It is supose to be a GFCI ciruit but there is no GFCI outlet on that circuit and the breaker is not a GFCI breaker. There is power leaving the panel but no power at the outlets.
If the answer is yes they will all fail. How do I find which outlet is supose to be the GFCI to install one? And how do I find the bad outlet?

My dog digs holes on occasion when he's left in the yard. It happens when there's mud or he thinks he sees something moving in the dirt or grass.

Now we have several pretty deep holes and lots of smaller ones in the yard, and I'm afraid if I fill them with dirt he'll just be enticed to dig there again. I'm trying to train him to stop this but that's a separate issue.

So does anyone know an effective way to fill in these holes so that no one will break an ankle in my yard? Thanks!

My son has 2 cherished plush stuffed animals that are in need of cleaning. I wipe them off regularly, but they really need thrown in the washing machine.

The tags say surface wash only. One is a WebKinz the other is TY brand.

I thought I could try using a delicate cycle on washer and perm press for the dryer.

Anyone have experience or suggestions.

I have a new wood stove but cant seem to get the long hot burns I want from it. Its rated for 7 hrs burn time, does that mean the coals will burn out after 7 hrs or the heat will drop at 7 hrs? If there is no flames just hot coals is the firebox is that what I want or do I want the lazy flames? All the research and my manual say to burn 500-600 degrees but I cant keep it there. I have tried with a large bed of coals and I have tried with raking all the coals to the front and it really makes no difference. I have been burning old locust fence posts and seasoned maple, from my understanding 2 of the top woods to burn!!! please help me before I lose it!
thanks in advance!!!

We've only lived in our brand new home for 1.5 years, and our carpet already has light patches! The carpet is that annoying tanish color that stains way easily, and it's stock manufactured home carpet, so it's not so great to begin with.

A few weeks ago, I noticed a light patch in an area that would hardly ever be stepped on, even by our dogs. I don't think I've ever had to shampoo that area, except for in the summer when we had a guy shampoo the whole house.

I decided to shampoo our carpets during Xmas break, and I'd barely begun when I noticed 2 more light patches! I highly doubt it's from our carpet cleaner. We use the same stuff the carpet guy used, and we've used it dozens of times without any problems. I decided to just let our carpet be dirty rather than risk any more damage, just in case.

Ever had problems like this? I read a little about carpet dyes. Any experience?

If no hot water has been running, I turn on the faucet and have to wait several minutes for hot water. The heater comes on immediately, I've observed that, but the water comes out tepid, then ice cold, before finally getting hot. Once it's hot it stays hot indefinitely.

I get many blossoms and lots of tiny oranges. However before they set most fall off. The last two years I've had 1 orange mature and both years it was as sour as a lemon. This year 2 oranges matured. I picked the first one last week and it was very sweet. Today I picked the second one and it is very sour.
How can that be? A sour and a sweet from the same tree? My neighbors all have wonderful orange crops with very little care except watering. I have fertilizeted but on a somewhat erratic basis and it gets regular water. I am in the central valley of California. Any ideas?

I have a room in my house that is used as a home office and music room. I am wanting to redecorate and am thinking about the shabby chic style. I can't decide what color to paint the walls. I am leaning towards sage green, pale pink or pale aqua. I am wanting to buy a white desk and accessories. I want to promote an atmosphere of calm and confidence. Additionally, I hope to resell my house within the next year. So, any suggestions?
