What happened here is that the edge from the factory was at a different angle than your sharpener. I like knives too, have several pocket knives. This was my favorite thing to do at Cub scout an and Boy Scout meetings was the knife lessons.
Your best choices here are either use the two stage sharpener some more with the first stage to hone the edge to the proper angle and then continue to use the sharpener in the future. Or Buy a set of stones and get good at holding an angle. I have an Aluminum oxide combination stone, medium on one side and fine on the other. And an Arkansas stone.
It takes practice but if I can teach 100 cub scouts to do it I am sure you can learn too. Holding a consistant angle is most important. Opinions vary, about 30 degrees , just hold steady.
A dull knife is worthless, a sharp one is the most usefull tool you can have.

Try just a flat stone and get it wet. Keep the blade at a consistant angle for both sides running it only one way (sharp egde first) When blade is sharp do the same procedure across a heavy leather strap to hone the egde.(dull egde first) Keep practicing, if it is a good blade it will get razor sharp.

there's no "acceptable"...and "decrease priced" ability distinctive issues to diverse people... yet, that's all purely very own opinion and private selection, very comparable to a man or woman prefers one sort of pickup truck over yet another... One man or woman will prefer a knife via one corporation, and yet another man or woman will prefer a knife via yet another corporation... rather, any "good high quality" knife would be good, even although that's going to nevertheless require a definite volume of upkeep, which includes sprucing whilst it gets uninteresting, and oiling often times. and of direction you could harm any knife, no count how good high quality or good, if that's used improperly...... yet, in case you p.c.. a knife via a properly-primary, long status corporation, which includes greenback, CASE, KERSHAW, EYE sort, fowl AND fowl, BENCHMADE, chilly metallic, UNCLE HENRY, SPYDERCO, BOKER, GERBER, CAMILLUS, SCHRADE, etc., etc., etc....you could no longer rather bypass incorrect.... those companies that have been in business enterprise for some years produce a high quality product, in any different case they does not have long remained in business enterprise.... purely hit upon a knife that seems good to you, and at a value you sense is physically powerful, and purchase it.
