My son has 2 cherished plush stuffed animals that are in need of cleaning. I wipe them off regularly, but they really need thrown in the washing machine.

The tags say surface wash only. One is a WebKinz the other is TY brand.

I thought I could try using a delicate cycle on washer and perm press for the dryer.

Anyone have experience or suggestions.

I haven't tried the webkinz- they seem kind of fragile- but the TYs you can throw in the regular wash with a load of clothes. The dryer too. No worries- I do it all the time. Good luck!

I fill the kitchen sink with warm water and just a little soap. Mix the soap before putting in the animal. Rinse up and down several times, then air dry for a couple of days. You can put it in the dryer, but use AIR only, no heat. Add something else like towels or sheets to balance the load. I wash my kids animal like this often.

I put stuffed toys into my front loader and dry them in the dryer, haven't lost a single one even though they say surface wash only.

I put all of my granddaughter's stuffed animal in a front loading washer and dryer. It is much gentler. They usually have them at laundromats if you don't have one at home. Afterwards, I just toss them in the dryer.

Whenever it is something more delicate I put inside a pillowcase, tie it well and then throw in the washer.
