It would probably be best to wash the brand new jeans alone one time to decrease the risk of them "bleeding" on other clothing.
Follow the directions on the sweater. "Like colors" would probably be your darks. Wash them in cold water (if you have a choice) to hold the color and prevent any bleeding in your sweater.

NO do not put them in the to wash together! Wash them both separately the first time you wash them just in case the dyes bleed out this will ruin any other clothing in the same load so don't wash together! After you wash the dark jeans once the dye should be set so you can wash them with like materials( other pairs of jeans) no matter what color and it shouldn't harm them but just to be on the safe side I would wash darks with darks and lights with lights. And your sweater read the label and check the washing instructions and be sure that it can be machine washed and if it needs to be laid flat to dry or if it can go in the dryer. Good Luck

NO, do not put the sweater in with DARK jeans as the jeans will fade on the pink in your sweater. No matter the color of your sweater though, it's never a good idea to wash any colored jeans with them as they are to heavy and will pill your sweaters. Also, always turn sweaters inside out to wash. YES, you can wash light jeans w/ dark jeans as long as you use cold water and don't mind if the light ones get a bit darker.

Follow the directions on the clothing tags. I always wash new clothes separately and in cold water. Dark clothing with other darks, lights with lights at all times. Be extra careful with the sweater, you might need to dry clean it or hand wash.

if its new you should probably wash with similar colors but they don't have to be an exact match. the reason for separating colors is to prevent dye from running off of a new item onto something thats lighter colored. but once somethings been washed a few times you don't have to worry about dye running anymore.
jeans with jeans is good as long as the darker pair is not new.
i just wash everything together in cold water and i have had very few problems in the 15 years or so that i've been doing my own laundry.
if you do get staining don't dry it, that will just set the stain. try washing again in cold water.

unless they have been washed several times, they will "bleed" the dye onto other clothes. Wash them separately the first few times. And remember soap (detergent) is the number one cause of fading. When washing dark clothes be sure you buy soap that is "color safe", like Cheer. But it MUST say color safe on the label or words that mean the same thing.
