The elevator in my condo building has been vandalized with scratches. The board (which I'm on) is too thrifty to hire a pro to fix it, so I'd like to try. My initial thought was a wire wheel or cupped wire wheel, but I wonder how the pros or DIYers do it. thanks!

Thinking about buiding a 3 story concrete structure with slabs as floors/ceilings, 2 of the walls on each floor mostly solid concrete. dimentions would be 30x40 with 10 foot ceiling height. Looking for a very rough estimate for the concrete work, not the finished building. Seattle area

The ceiling does not need to be painted, but the windows and trim do. There would only be one painter and I am using a oil base primer and semi gloss paint Two walls have already been primed and the other two still need to be done. He wants to charge by the hour and says it would take about 8-10 hours. Doesnt seem right to me, if I have already started the work.

I have started to sand them, and i am going through way to much sand paper, it keeps gumming up every 6-12ins. The sand paper is so expensive. Is there a less expensive way I can remove the wax before I start to refinish it with a waterbase polyurathane. If this is possible can you recommend the best product or precedure for the job. Thank you so much for your time and help.

I take violin lessons, but recently bought a cheap ($124) 17.5 inch viola on eBay to play around with. Now, though, I find the only cheap cases are too small. The only one I found that will accomodate a 17.5 inch viola costs $189 plus shipping. Anyone know where I can do better? Thanks!!

We did it today and the storage under the bed is fantastic. But the cinder blocks look pretty ugly and I am afraid we will bump against them and hurt our feet. Do you have any good, easy, and cheap ideas how to make it look prettier?

My orange trees are not growing and have not been growing in the entire year that I have owned them. They should be taller than me by now and should be bearing fruit. No new leaves or new growth is visible. I am watering them and giving them sun. Could it be possible that lack of compost/fertilizer is causing the lack of growth?

Every weekend when I work in the yard I have to clean up piles of dog feces. I don't have any animals. I can't let my children outside to play until I've gone out and cleaned everything up -- otherwise they get it all over their shoes. I called the animal control and they said that it is illegal, but to prosecute I'd have to have proof, like a picture. I am at work all day -- so this is impossible. They do it while I'm gone. Even if I am at home one day, I don't have time to sit in front of the window with my camera. I've tried talking to the neighbors (who always let their dogs run free) and they apologize and say 'we'll try to pay more attention' and things improve for a few weeks but then go back to normal. They also claim that it isn't just their dogs, it's other dogs being walked around the neighborhood on leashes -- the owners just don't clean up after them. What can I do? Is there some kind of product you can apply to the lawn? Backyard is fenced, problem is in front.

Our house is 80 years old, insulbrick then old vinyl siding. Can I put stucco and cover the whole mess up? Perhaps with the mess screwed well into it to hold the weight. Some also suggested to bolt in 2X10s, then an inch of styromfoam insulation, then stucco over top. What about these ideas? Someone also said to remove the vinyl and stucco over the insulbrick.

I have from age 10, with the exceptions of 3 years in the Army and college dorms and roommates.

But I cook, clean, do my laundry (even iron) Now celebrating 50 years living alone. Only thing lacking is companionship. I'm working on that. But, I don't need a woman or anyone else to take care of me. I would very much like to take care of someone I love.

Also garden, paint houses, roof, electric, plumbing, auto repair, carpentry. So I have pretty complete household skills.

My philodendron is in a 6 inch high pot. The plant itself is about a foot tall. A couple of 6 inch long roots are sticking out of the pot and hanging in the air. I don't want the plant to grow bigger. Is it safe to cut the roots or should I move them to grow back into the pot?

I've had a similer problem before
but last time it was because of lint build up
in the airway in the back of the dryer.

It's something different this time because
I've checked the complete air way
from the circular exit tube to unscrewing the
back and checking for any lint buildup.

When the dryer is on, the air from it blows out perfectly
it just isn't hot.

Did somethine blow out?
Can I fix this?
Or do I need a new dryer?
