No offense, but wouldn't something appropriate be already available?
A sweet idea in any case. When I was a younger, new parent, we just got blank scrapbooks, and did letters, cards, pictures, etc. on every page, That went on for about 5 years I think.
Considering the fact that there will be 365 days in 2008,,,and/or from the date the baby is born, that might not be such a bad idea, to buy decent scrap books, and filler pages, and create the date by hand, and use as many pages as you need for each day and every development.
Certainly they won't be pocket sized, but THIS can be so much an icon as your child grows, and YOU share with that child, every moment. OR look for something that equates to a photo album that allows filler pages, and inserts for cards, letters, the personal, written notes, a lock of hair, etc. etc.
Just my two cents.

I promise you, as that child grows, especially while still young, this keepsake kind of thing will be as interesting as any story book, and I bet they will ask you to sit down with them often and go through it all again.
Sigh, Tears.

You can print calendars from Publisher if u have the program
or find something on the web, then perhaps tizzy it up with the scrap-booking bits and pieces you can buy at the discount stores. You will still need to purchase some sort of blank book as a base or just use card and the flip method with ribbons at the top?
Scrapbookers may have some cool ideas unfortunately I am not one, but try googling it you never know!
