Every weekend when I work in the yard I have to clean up piles of dog feces. I don't have any animals. I can't let my children outside to play until I've gone out and cleaned everything up -- otherwise they get it all over their shoes. I called the animal control and they said that it is illegal, but to prosecute I'd have to have proof, like a picture. I am at work all day -- so this is impossible. They do it while I'm gone. Even if I am at home one day, I don't have time to sit in front of the window with my camera. I've tried talking to the neighbors (who always let their dogs run free) and they apologize and say 'we'll try to pay more attention' and things improve for a few weeks but then go back to normal. They also claim that it isn't just their dogs, it's other dogs being walked around the neighborhood on leashes -- the owners just don't clean up after them. What can I do? Is there some kind of product you can apply to the lawn? Backyard is fenced, problem is in front.

Get some red pepper and sprinkle it in the yard, that works well. They will avoid your yard. But make sure the kids play for a few days in the back.Once they think your yard smells funny, they will use another yard.

Trap them and remove them to a location far away or call animal control. Do know though that if you call animal control, they'll trap the cats and take them to a shelter and most likely they will be euthanized because they're likely to be feral or simply won't be adopted.

i have the same problem with my neighbors dog. it's driving me crazy. if i wanted a big dog pooping in my yard i'd get my own big dog! the next time i'm home and the dog is running loose i am calling the animal shelter to pick him up. we have a leash law but they don't seem to care about that but when they have to pay to pick up their dog every time maybe they will start putting him up. also, i have seen signs in peoples yard that says if it poops pick it up! i need to find where people get those! i'm thinking of putting up a fence between our properties. call the animal shelter when the dogs are in your yard. also get a BB gun and shoot them when they are in your yard! (it doesn't really injure them just stings a little)maybe an invisible fence to keep them off your property. good luck!!

12 gauge works best!! otherwise try putting out anti-freeze in small containers. use only the green anti-freeze. do not let anyone know you are doing that though, it may be illegal in your area. crushed aspirin in meat will get rid of them too. you could make soft muffins and fill the centers with rat poison. you could call animal control which should be your first option!

' you can buy pet repellant spray or or granules usually at any garden center. i am not sure if pet shops sell them, but you can try. its quite easy and safe for children as well. spray around your yard especially where they have been doing. and that'l stop them to do it there. spray everywhere, so they dont get near your yard again!
