My great uncle stays with us on some weekends and he doesn't turn ANYTHING off. He leaves the restroom light and fan on, the television on, and any lights he may use around the house constantly. When he goes to the kitchen to make a sandwich he leaves the refrigerator door wide open while he does it. He refuses to turn the coffee pot off if there's coffee left because he "may want some hot coffee later," but this scalds the coffee and makes my house REAK! He hasn't been here 24 hours and he's already driving me crazy!

I've tried inconspicuously following him around and turning off the lights, tv, and shutting the refrigerator, and I've tried being obvious about it.

I've even gently said something to him about turning off the lights and tv because it's wasting electricity and electricity is expensive. His reply to that was: "It's more expensive to have to turn them on because of the power surge they require to get started." All I could do was stare at him.

Hi,
I had ceramic tiles installed in my living room and I wanted to get wood flooring and decided to go with laminate as it can be installed on top of ceramic directly.
My ceramic tile floor was not flat and there were few spots where one tile was bit high then surrounding ones.
Now, I have had 7mm thick laminate installed and when you walk, you will clearly feel some spots going up & down. you will also feel different sound in such spots and even other person watching your foot can figure out.

Is this normal? Could installed have installed it with some more padding or with something else to avoid this issue?
Is there any solution now?
I was thing about removing tiles but what if underneath floor is not flat. I don't have basement and I believe I have concrete floor.
Any comments/suggestion or same experience?
Thanks,
Sam

I'm planning on starting with 25 foot lengths of lights (larger bulbs) and cutting/splicing them into custom strands that will fit the eves of my house exactly. I've seen this on other homes, but I want to make sure I am doing it safely/correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean

I want to plant a tree that will be great for children to climb -- lots of low, string branches, and one that doesn't give off too much sap to ruin clothing and stick in hair. What kinds of trees make good climbing trees?

My daughter will soon be ten years old. She has a very cute bedspread that is pink and light green with pink accessories (even her little t.v. is pink!) The problem is the size of her room! It is sooo small! We can only put her bed one direction without the closet door hitting it! We can't really change many things around because there is just not much space - and there is a floor vent we can't exactly cover up. She is extremely bored with her room and I don't really blame her but I don't know how to revamp it. I don't have a clue. I painted the walls with an ivory base and big pink cirlces and she loves that but it doesn't really help much with the space issue. Next to building her a loft bed (which I am no carpenter) I don't know what to do! Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. We are just too cramped for comfort ... Please help

I have this glass cofee table on a metal frame. Problem is, the glass top slides aronund, even though it is heavy. I bought these silicone bumpers, to try to fix the problem, but it didn't do any good. Any hints or products out there that can fix this problem?
