This pump is about 8 inches below my septic line. It started dripping water from the pipe that contains the electrical supply for the pump. The water smells horrible!! What has happen to this thing? Hope you guys have some advise for me... The plumber told me I needed an electrician before he could come!!

i am assuming the pump is in a sewer pit outside and the water is dripping into your basement through the tubing carrying the electrical power wires out to your pump....this would indiocate that there coould be a few possible problems...1 make sure breaker is not tripped..2 the floats that turn the pump on and off could be bad...3 pump could be bad... any good plumber can turn the breaker off to the pump....now he might want you to have the electrician to check the floats and see if the pump is grounded before he starts to dismantle everything....but even then you will have to quit using any water and have the pit pumped out before either the electrician or plumber could do any maintenance on your sewer pump...

You probably need a new gasket/seal where the wires enter the pump.

Look for a plumber that will come out and take a look at what is going on. Most plumbers are able to flip a breaker before doing work.

If the temperature is changing where you live, it could be condensate forming inside the conduit. When warm air meets cooler air, condensate forms and will run out of vertical piping.
